I recently replaced my motor because the crank snout broke off. I had a stage 2 procharger and after replacing the motor I switched over to ESS. I also went ahead and did opg, crank sprocket and DI delete.

I loaded the new tune for the DI delete and when attempting to start the car for the first time it took 5 to 6 cranks, which I thought was because the fuel rails were empty. Also when quickly tapping the throttle the rpm's would drop down to 300 and it would either stall or recover sometimes. If I would slowly raise the rpm's it felt okay until it would go over 1500rpm then it would feel like crap and strange vibrations. I left the car alone for a few days while waiting on a response from tuner. He sent a revision with added fuel for cold starts and It took another 5 to 6 cranks to get it started again and I informed the tuner of this. They attempted a few more revisions and it appeared to be getting worse. So I reinstalled the DI and loaded my previous tune before DI delete and it was still having the same exact issues.

I've checked all of the following
spark plugs and coil packs
fuel pressure
fuel filter
injectors
tested the ethanol content at 80%
cable connections to sensors
verified grounds
replaced spark plugs
performed timing procedure again on primary chains
verified MAF is in the correct direction
swapped MAF extension cable
swapped crank sensor

At this point I'm at a complete loss and not sure what to try next. If anyone can help I would appreciate it.

What was the outside temp? Do you have any data logs?

Outside temps have been 50 to 70 degrees every time I've tried to start the car. I do have logs but I'm Lund tune not sure if it's going to be a problem reviewing the logs but if not I can email them.

I don't know if I can open them or not, I'm willing to try

Do you have the stock throttle body?

E85 doesnt like the cold , here was mine trying to start. The cranking wasnt really long but it stalled twice.

It’s the stock throttle body.

I’ve been on e85 for 2 years and it gets down into the teens here some mornings during winter and I’ve never had issues with cold starts like I’m having now. But it’s not just the cold starts I’m having issues with, the car trying to stall when quickly tapping the throttle and harsh vibrations above 1500. I believe all 3 issues are probably related and I can’t pinpoint the problem.

It sure sounds like it’s not running on all 8 cylinders or you have a cam timing issue.

You stated you replaced all coil packs, have you verified spark at each cylinder? Two dead cylinders right next to each other in the firing order would make it run pretty rough.

Fuel injectors confirmed good?

When you re-timed the primary chains, did you check the secondary chains?

What brand crank sprocket? I recall a member having an issue with a Boundary crank sprocket that was not marked correctly which resulted in the cam timing being off.

By looking at the spark plugs I removed all cylinders are firing. The car idles fine.

I lifted my fuel rails with injectors and verified all injectors are firing. I am going to send them to be cleaned soon.

Yes all timing was checked. Tuner also told me that if I was out of timing I would be seeing codes.

I used boundary gears and verified the timing marks with the OEM one.

Do a compression check, that will tell you if you are a tooth off on the timing.

Have you performed a crank re-learn procedure?
