My 23 y.o. daughter knows several kids from high school and college that have no interest in cars or getting a license. They just call an uber when they need a ride.
Wow! No interest in even getting a license?? I'd think they'd want their independence. I'm sure their minds will change when they have to start commuting everyday.

Glad to hear it, way too many of the younger generation are more concerned with tik tok than cars.

My buddy at work has a 20yo son with no license and no desire to drive. He takes the bus or gets rides to work. Seems like too much work to me. Driving is freedom. It’s a privilege to go and do what you want as an independent adult. I can’t imagine not wanting that. Missing out on the joy of it is a whole different topic…

where he is free to focus on his navel (er, phone) and not pay one scintilla to the arduous mental task of driving. If traffic is bad, he just surfs for longer. He doesn't have to pay confiscatory "personal property" tax every year, doesn't have to carry insurance, doesn't have to buy gas or navigate the labrynth of accident repair or periodic maintenance. All public transit costs is time and flexibility - ie. no you can't leave work after 2030hrs because no buses or trains are running anymore... etc.

For everything else there is Uber/Lyft/Buddy. If your food/stuffs come via courier, need for personal transports plummets even further.

Those are 10 individual pretzels. It’s how they are made. Eating just one though is virtually impossible.
the only correct pretzel is a Philadelphia soft pretzel from a side-walk cart.

Is Wawa similar to a Sheetz, Quik Trip, or Bucees?
Yep!

We have the Bucee's down here in TX but I miss my Wawa's from back home

My sister is a senior in college now and a lot of her friends are like that too. They either have no interest in getting a license or wait til its absolutely necessary to have one.

back in the day we'd always buy some from the fella standing in the middle of the road selling to the people leaving the stadium after games. Brown bagged and with mustard packets.

Yeah gotta get that "unseen bird shit that was wiped off out of sight" flavor.

When we visited our cousins in Center City there was a cart just off the Ben Franklin Bridge just before getting onto Vine.

Man times have changed. I remember being that age and everyone couldn't wait to get their license. I guess independence is no longer desirable? Makes no sense to me

It's a cost savings thing too. When my wife went to college it annoyed me sooo much that her collogues didn't have or want cars. She would drive them places as I shook my head, freaking parasites. But when some of them are putting themselves through school and working a job or 2 and the car they relied on broke down, it end up being more cost effective to just not use one walk/ride everywhere. Of course some were just lazy too lol.

when I was a kid all you thought about was turning 17 and getting a car. That represented freedom. I remember paying for insurance at 17 so I could use it whenever I wanted. My parents did pay for my first car in 1974... it was a 67 Chevy Caprice, 327 2bbl, four door, blue with black vinyl roof. 😀 paid $400 from our landlord. Had it for one week before T boning a guy that ran a stop sign! Cost another $400.00 to repair!

Same for me, car was freedom. Dad paid $600 for an 83 Honda Accord hatch back. 0-60 if you were lucky. 2X4 was what kept the seat back from falling into he rear seat. I beat the hell out of that car. Tons of great stories. Can't imagine life without a car.
