First Congratulations to Ford/Multimatic.

Look closer at the full lap video, very few dry patches on the entire track. Dirk tip-toeing around was actually pretty impressive.

Cutting 15sec maybe a stretch but 10sec should be doable.

As for the Corvette fans. My prediction is ZR-1 will beat 6:57 but GTD will go back and re-take the top spot for a North American Car.

ZR-1 has more issues than bad gearing and not enough downforce. Their super complex (street car) computers will hinder its time around the Ring. ABS, Traction control, stability control, shifting, Engine management, gearbox algorithms will all fight each other. Unless they cheat and install the racing programs on the test car, which I would bet that $100 bucks they do as stakes are very high these days.

Lastly, good luck finding a ZR-1 under $300k

Cheers……

ZR1 is far better looking have seen in person and looks way better than standard car with wider haunches and decluttered body. Worth $300K as eye candy alone. Interior is far superior as well.

You're comparing one car ZR1 made by a champion profitable company with a money losing dog crippled with warranty liabilities and losses with huge reputational damage trying to distract shareholders and the market with this cobbled together outsourced car even BYD can smoke.....

ā€œChampion profitable companyā€. You mean Government Motors? Go blow smoke up someone else’s a$$, GM has as many issues as anyone else. And I own GM products

First of all, congrats on the allocation! I'm a bit confused about this part though, because the GTD is a street car and will have all the same systems fighting each other as well. Not to mention that you're obviously able to turn traction control and stability control off in both cars.

Many of the large Corvette dealers sell at MSRP. Sure, there are long lists, but for anyone with a bit of patience, you'll be able to get a ZR1 at MSRP just as you now can with the Z06.

Exactly. I'm very happy for those who got GTD allocations on this forum, but it's not comparable at all. You can't just walk into Ford dealership and place an order deposit for GTD, no matter how good relationship you have there or how much ADM they might ask to speed things up.

Right, so the C8 has been out since 2021 and nobody has been able to override the nannies which will limit Pro’s driving it at the limit. To be clear there is no ā€œoff buttonā€ that really turns the safety systems off like the plug in the fender of the Mustang. Plus the C8 code is way to complicated.

The GTD has it built in.

What I don’t get is the butt hurt here from a few when talking about the ZR1. I would agree about the fact that a standard Mustang and C8 Corvette are apple to oranges which is based mainly upon price and target market. Moving into a more specialty/rare type of vehicle offering and a price conversation, the GTD and the ZR1 are absolutely 100% in the same conversation. And don’t get me wrong I love the GTD, but that doesn’t mean I can’t be objective and suggest that the ZR1 has a very strong possibility to beat the GTD ring time and do it at a lesser or equal price.

If that triggers you somehow because you wear the Ford blue glasses and drink the Ford blue koolaid, I find it funny. I didn’t know some of you were on the Ford payroll as part of their PR team.

ZR1 is ugly Genital motors but its very capable and fast track car no doubt. It doesn't really bother me that it competes with it, what is annoying though is you fan boys saying the ZR1 will blow the doors off the GTD. Until the results come in we don't know it might get close or beat it who knows. As of right now the GTD is holding the crown under less than ideal conditions.

Ha, I haven’t owned a GM vehicle since my first car, a 1991 Lumina Eurosport.
As this is a Mustang and therefore Ford forum website I’m sure a lot of us have owned all three of the Big Three at one time or another in a sports car version. I myself have had several Mustangs and a Camaro as well as an SRT4. I’m sure there are others. I guess it says that I’m in a Mustang right now says which one I chose.
