My question is, when you have issues with the pushrod suspension, or if the transaxle acts up, or any of the active aero balance is off and needs adjustment, where you taking this complicated race car technology for service ?
Multimatic is just a couple miles from my work office, I guess I can drop it off and walk on a sunny day? 😄
Just need to get this stupid video done and I'm golden

Even speedphenom isn't garunteed one and everyone knows who he is now.
Literally no idea who that is. Is he running for president?

I completely agree, and hope you’re correct. Only time will tell.

Take a CFTP (4000#) and deduct weight for CF body (dry CF hood, fenders, fascia, quarters, decklid, bumper...lets say 200#), ceramic brakes (oh about 120#), it wouldn't surprise me to see them swap a Lithium battery (50#), trans and axle is a wash, other weight reduction measures (ill estimate 160#). Wheels are a wash..... and if they really wanted to dig deep, they could probably pull a lot out of not using heavy steel components and using lightened substitution parts.... let's just say another 100#.

There is a reason the car is 325K+. I would expect ford and multimatic would go to extreme efforts to get the weight down. That's what makes a car beat everything else out there. People get so preoccupied with HP.... it's HP/weight ratio and distribution.

My guess for the GTD, optioned out is 3400-3600#. Combine that with 840 HP..... WOW!

Well, the only carbon fiber tub street legal race car Ford has made (2017 Ford GT) weighed in at 3,354 lb in instrumented testing. I will meet you halfway and guess 3700-3800 lb.

Yes, will be a monster of a road/track car, but handling dynamics won’t be like the much lighter, mid engine cars in same price range.

And there are still things they can pull out of the car.

The HP estimation was conservative. Hell, with a CAI, 760 turns into almost 800. Add a pulley and tune? Yep, I'm guessing at least 840 and beyond. Maybe closer to 900? Who knows. There is a reason the car is going to cost 325k+

He's used Ford for all he can and he has moved on. But like any you tube whore, he's looking for the next thing that will get him a bunch more likes and subscribes.
That’s the game for all of them unfortunately. They milk certain makes/models and when their views/likes stagnate, they move on to the next best thing. StangChode is one of the few that has stuck with the same make/model. And I absolutely cannot stand the guy even though he’s a Mustang guy. Austin is another one I just can’t even watch anymore. He’s like nails on a chalkboard.

The YouTube car stuff I prefer to watch is more informative/educational stuff. Or reviewers like Throttle House or Raiti (350R owner btw).

No way. It will be a lot lighter than that.
I hope you are right. 3400-3600 lb is still heavy. Honestly, I wish they used NA 5.4L engine from the race car. Could likely take 150+lb off the front end of the car by deleting supercharger and all the extra cooling and hardware associated with it.

Since the GTD is not a carbon fiber tub vehicle, using same stainless steel architecture as the S650, my guess will be close to CFTP GT500 weight. That rear suspension setup, and big radiator setup for the transaxle looks pretty heavy back fhere.
I thought I saw somewhere that it is a CF tub, no? I can’t find anything on it so maybe I am misremembering. I know there will be quite a few body panels made of CF so that will help with the weight. With the cars this thing is supposed to run with (and beat hopefully) I’d be shocked if it’s close to CFTP weight.

I like where you’re going with the 5.4L. If they’re not using it for the GTD (which they’re not), maybe they drop it in the next Cobra/Shelby/Boss/{insert new goofy name here} variant that’s coming for MY2025? That would be pretty awesome, I’d line up for that.

On the negative side, running a 5.2 supercharged V8 flat out for 25 mins on a track like Daytona presents fuel quantity issues. You can't run flat out, foot on the floor for those kinds of durations in the 500. The last few laps leave me with the foot off the floor and hoping I make it in.

We will see...........

Would be nice if they increased fuel capacity to 18 gallons instead of 16 if they really want these cars out on track. But if they’re trying to shed weight I’m assuming that’s a no-go for them unless they think they can save it elsewhere.

How about they teach Ford how not to cook the damn 7 and 8 cylinders instead of some fancy pants body penals. Do something useful for once.
