Well I’d venture to guess it’s functional otherwise it probably wouldn’t be there or at least wouldn’t be that large.

One could say the same thing about the wing that came with your ZL1, but it too is likely functional. As is the larger wing on the GT500 CFTP.
Even the swing with the gurney flap is functional! Like 200-300 lbs I believe.

Yes it is! I believe you’re correct in the amount as well, but I’d have to go back and look. I added the swing to my car, although I haven’t tracked it or gotten it up to speeds where I’d notice a major difference. It also looks great and flows well with the body lines of the car

Agreed, it's my favorite wing/spoiler for the s550's

Fair statement. And you’re likely correct, I would assume the majority of buyers will not use it as it was built to be driven. I know there are several in this thread and on this site that would/will, but they are in the minority for sure.
What is the definition of “was built to be driven”? Is a Miata supposed to be a club racer? Is a Ranger supposed to be a baja truck? Is a Caprice supposed to be a cop car? Just observations on some vehicles that were probably never built to be driven that way, nothing against your statement.

A car is just a car…how it’s “was built to be driven” is a very subjective opinion lol. I don’t race my GT500, guess I don’t use it how other people think I should. Then again, I rarely give a shit what other people think about what I do with my property! 🤣

I guess what I mean by “built to be driven” is how it was designed by Ford based on its marketed/intended use. GT500 is a good example, actually. It was designed and built as a track capable car, as was the GT350/R. Ford touted as such in its marketing. Does that mean it has to be driven that way? Of course not, but the car off the shelf is ready for that specific use due to the way it was designed and ultimately assembled.

Same with the GTD. The suspension, transaxle, aero, etc was all designed and engineered for the track and to be pushed, hard (like breaking 7:00 around the Ring). Does that mean that’s its only use? No and most people won’t drive it where it was engineered to really shine. Same can be said for Porsche, McLaren, etc. Heck, even the Bronco, Jeep, etc most people don’t off-road those vehicles like they were designed to do

Quite a few people are getting their VIN's and delivery windows. The earliest are estimated in June. Getting close.

@Tomster @Epiphany What is the weight difference between a Base 350R and non Base? I dont expect the weight difference to be reflected in lap times

Surely, they could've given an option for those who want minimal weight to opt out of climate controls, radio, etc. I guess something similar to how Porsche has their clubsport trims.

It is about 120 pounds if I recall correctly.

I bet you'll see that next year.

Wow that's more than I thought. That could make a difference in lap time.

I would be a fool to bet against you so I'm in on that lol. Glad there is going to be more work dedicated to track use.

It's the natural progression with Multimatic and some key people at Ford. They are no doubt aware about public perception regarding weight. The question is, will a no-holds barred version still be street legal or track only? It'd give them an excuse to go back to Germany just one more time too...

Remember, a street car must have things like a back up camera, so there is the screen. The end of the base R and also the Comp package NGT.
