Neither do a installed passport from escort reasoning or buy the laser shifters separate either way without laser shifters the best radar detector is only so good these days highway patrol uses laser in all states 95 percent of time when the 360 goes off with saying laser it's too late to slow down I travel for work and have been to 48 states cops know about radar detectors so he dont keep them on especially highway patrol laser is the sneaky way to get u so if your on a budet buy the new 360 which i have and the laser jammers from escort or blinder extreme either way that’s total protection

I'm very happy with my Escort Redline. It works great and has a good false alarm filtering ability.

Alan,

Next time we see each other, lets have a discussion about the Jammers. I thought they were illegal here in Fl.

Need more info...

I have had a few Escort detectors over the years. Buy the best one you can afford. My older one came out of my car when I purchased the new one. I ran them side by side for about a week in my truck. The new one went off a mile or 2 earlier.

Just my 0.02

Yes sure we can discuss but first off I learned never to call them jammers we are suppose to call them shifters. What I do is always keep the shifters on if I get hit with laser I let it shift then always turn them off especially if the cop pulls out shifters are the only way to feel completely comfortable driving at a spirited pace
The reason radar isn’t completely fool proof is if they want to be sneaky they leave the radar on pop mode which is basically like being off then turn it on quickly texas was notorious for this along with Georgia however most cops depend on laser like motorcycle coos highway patrol and some city cops. I have been shifting for over 15 years and once i started 0 tickets as your covering yourself with radar and shifters the shifters are about 500 to 700 which is well worth it as u can always transfer it to a new car as far as being illegal its like driving in Virginia were radar is completely illegal however the escort ci is completely undetectable so I always had it on and it worked the key is turn it off once u slow down if in doubt

Thanks for all that, Alan, very informative. For years, I've known there were "ways" but also knew they were cost-prohibitive.

Just checked and while they're still not cheap, they're not out of the ballpark so more investigation is required.

Here's a question...do they work fore AND aft?

That is and has been the down fall of all radar detectors, the product name gives the clue...

Jamming best option, having both might be the best of both worlds.

Jam to keep from being seen, detector to alert you car is being scanned.

If hauling ass there's that undectable visual scan, no blinking led or auto alerts for that........... yet

Just saying

Here's my 2 cents worth. I have always been buying the "Top of the Line" Detectors from Escort for probably around 20 years now. I always go with their best model available. I was blessed with a great job so don't mind the expense of it. I too wanted to buy their "JAMMER/SHIFTER" but after enquiring with Escort the jammer needs to be professionally installed as its not a deal where you just put the suction cup on the windshield and plug it into your plug in. So I called around to a few places here where I live and its harder than hell finding anybody that has ever installed one. So needless to say my car is due in around mid to late July but I probably won't buy one. Not because of the expense but because it does require professional installation. Iam NOT a handy man so I don't want to tackle the job. I've tried that before with different things only to end up frustrated.

Don't sell yourself short, Chuck..it can't be that difficult. Sounds like simply a matter of antenna routing and probably a below dash mounted module of some sort.

I for one am interested but damn their expensive.

Correct installation location, both horizontally from the center line and vertically are critical. So too is correct alignment forwards, not angled tilted or skewed in any way.

You are right installation isn't that hard, usually it's routing the cables into the cabin that is hard but the alignment is critical and what it's worth paying to get done professionally. Which rules out your typical audio shop unless the tech is really good and used to installing jammers.

Also depending on your car you may need more than 2 front and rear, large SUV's can need up to 4, my 2018 Expedition has tons of shiny chrome grill over a huge area that needs covering so I would need 4 up front and 2 at rear.

You also want to mount them as unobtrusively as possible. Again a pro can do this for you way easier than you ever will, they typically can fab custom mounting brackets far better than you or I could. well I could anyway, you may be a master fabricator for all I know :)
