Hi All,

Just had my first track day out on my new to me 19 350R. We had some good weather in WA, cold, but dry.

Was experiencing consistent vibrations at 115mph and up. I wouldn't call it violent since I could still keep it straight without fighting it, but wow. Not isolated to one area. Going to start with rebalancing the tires(what's left of them), and go from there. Assuming it's going to be axles or the driveshaft. I've seen people talk about this issue but with no resolution. Any recent experiences? The car is under Premium ESP with Ford so I'm going to resist trying to resolve it myself, as much as I'm itching to.

Here is the video of it happening.

What was the ambient temperature? Curious as I tracked my 2000 R below 50 degrees and it broke and hit a cement barrier and totaled it unfortunately.

Started in the morning it was 35 degrees, by afternoon it was 47. Spent the first session gradually bringing the tires up to temp. Car did excellent minus this vibration

Just peeked at your video. My trans Am buddy told me that they never go out below 50 degrees, our tires are not designed for 45 or lower, sticker inside our door. Low enough temp I read can break apart our tires internally. My R didn’t have enough heat in the trans, through the rear/axles and snapped, something. leaving me spinning at 80 mph with no power train, . Curious if you’ve damaged your tires internally and survived a blow out with that vibration I saw ?

Possibly by starting at 35. You’ve internally broken down your tires even though you got them warmed? I would call the tire rack or the mfg,

Michelin makes that statement of 40 degrees but the key with that statement is to give them time to gradually come up to temperature before any form of stress or even bumps or pot holes. If they are gradually brought up to temp and are enabled to distribute the heat gradually, it's fine. The key is being patient.

Sorry to hear about that failure. That's absolutely terrible. Smashing into a wall, hope you're ok. Terrible loss of the car but you're alive to tell the tale.

Did you inspect for pickup? Entirely possible you have some in the wheel barrel, wheel lip, or even on the tire itself. I have the same issue if I get off the fast line. And it typically goes away within a few corners. It's especially prevalent the first 2-3 laps coming out of pit. The tires pick up a lot of crap after the previous session, then it molds into the tire good and hard if the tires are hot enough. I'd imagine with the cooler temps, it probably takes longer to get your tires good and warm.

Was the vibration through the seat or through the wheel?

Was the vibration present at the start of the track day or did it occur after a session or two?

If it happened after a session or two then it is possible you picked up some rubber or lost a wheel weight or you flat spotted your tries a bit or they started chunking, etc.

Also, you will have a hell of a time getting a dealership to diagnose and repair a vibration that occurs at 115 mph....

Second looking for missing wheel weights or excessive rubber pickup on the inside of the wheel. I've had both create vibrations. Also make sure the wheel bearings are good / lugs are torqued. If all those are good (and a wheel isn't bent), then check driveshaft.

I was honestly feeling it everywhere. Even up to my head in the seat. It wasnt uncontrollable, but pretty intense. Im going to get the car up on the jacks tonight and start inspecting the tires. From there will be taking them to Discount Tire to rebalance. Though I think the tires are done for after only 1 day :(

Need to see the middle/inside. Outside tread disappears after the first day regardless
