I picked up a GT350 intake mani and TB over the weekend.

I'm leaning towards a local dyno tune or JDM remote tune. Unless someone has a good suggestion. I say JDM because they seem to be a front runner for the intake swap. Plus they're very helpful over the phone.

My next question is, is the JDM install kit worth it? I like to keep things as clean as possible. I have a JLT catch can, will there need to be any modifications to run it? Last part, will I need a different coupler for the larger throttle body from the steeda intake? Or can I stretch it?

Jdm is a good choice for a remote tune they've had the combo dialed in sooner then anyone else. If your installing it yourself then yes the install kit is worth it. Steeda intake part i dont know, i went with the jlt intake which comes with multiple couplers!

I appreciate the input. Yea, I'm doing it myself. I don't like other people touching my car.

Would be best to use a 4"x4" coupler on the GT350 throttle body. You could try to stretch it but steeda looks like they use a thick coupler. You should have everything you need to install it on the car and with the manifold. The stock throttle body bolts fit the purge valve threads on the GT350 manifold. You will have to pull the wire looms loose for the purge valve and IMRCs plugs to reach.

Yea, they're sturdy as a couplers. I appreciate your input.

Don't stretch it. JDM has the 4X4 coupler. So if you do order the install kit then throw them an extra 20 bucks for the coupler. Or get one off Ebay or from PepBoys. Stretching the stock size coupler is just gonna look hideous if you even could stretch it. And it'll probably be a PITA to even do. So just get the right one. Like they say, do it right or do it twice.

As far as the install kit, It isn't completely necessary but it does have an pigtail connector for the switch that goes to the evap solenoid. And it also has a bunch of stuff that you might find useful. Especially the screws for the evap solenoid...and I must urge you, do not use the stock screws from your evap solenoid. I have no idea why Ford used those things. Or how they even got them in for that matter. If you re-use them, you could end up spinning the insert inside the tower that the screw goes into which will render that screw and tower unusable. If you mess up both inserts, well you're out a thousand bucks G. I messed up one of mine but luckily the other one went in. This is before I knew all this. Thank God I didn't screw (literally) the other one up. I figured I'd pass that info along to save others from my fate, lol! If you want pics of what I'm talking about then let me know and I'll post them for you to see.

So yea I would say go ahead and get the install kit. It is a bit costly at $89. And it requires rerouting stuff and modifying stuff, which I chose not to do and was fine not doing. But it is a great resource.

Yeah, what these guys said. I have the Steeda CAI but with the 80mm TB, and it looks like that would be a tough stretch to make it fit for you.

JDM install kit with directions made the install a breeze. I used the stock TB with the MMR spacer so no issues for me there.

Can someone post up the instructions they send out to help others? I don't need the kit but the printed instructions/photos could be quite handy and no doubt helpful to others. I'd be even willing to paypal someone some cash if they are unwilling to post up but happy to email them to me. :)

Here's a quick vid I made to discourage all the hype over the GT350TB. Don't believe everyone the hype is very misleading.

Yup, that is the surging. Mine isn't as pronounced as yours tho. But it's still a bit annoying. You get it even with cruise control on or at steady throttle. One thing I did figure out tho, is that you can reduce it by the way you depress the gas pedal. I can't really explain it well. But we're all basically used to just kinda mashing on the gas. I have found that if you control your foot a bit more steady, even when quickly going half throttle, that you can significantly reduce the surging. See, when most of us press on the gas, we kinda just press it to a certain point. But if you press it a bit more deliberately and control your foot to where it stops and give the pedal a little more attention, then it won't surge as much because it won't be getting as much input or so I assume. Give it a try. I swear I've been doing it over the past couple weeks as my tuner works it out and it seems to work better.

That is exactly what I have been doing. Or a quick upshift and blip of the throttle helps it quite a bit. Reminds me of getting of the gas lightly if you loss traction. I do appreciate the help as I'm sure others will greatly benefit from the advice. It isn't a huge deal. I just don't feel like dealing with this for maybe 5hp at WOT is worth it. There is just so much misinformation on this forum I didn't want anyone to feel like they wasted money on all the hype. There are quite a few members claiming it runs like stock with Zero surge. Perhaps with other tuners but not Lund in my experience.

I'm trying to hold out to see what the actual gains are. If the gains are indeed only 5-10 hp, then I just might deal with it as my tuner tries to work out the tune. If I can't get to where I like it, then I'm gonna install my stock TB until the time when I can get a BBK 95mm TB. I'm sorry you're having this issue tho. I often wonder if people are just saying they have theirs worked out or if they actually do. Because people are reporting zreo issues. And if that is the case, and if you're being tuned by the same person, then you shouldn't be having anywhere near the issues you have. I know results can slightly vary between cars, but it shouldn't be that much. Anyway, I'm almost at my limit dealing with the surging. I'm pretty much on the verge of throwing the stock TB on.

I wanted to try and work it out. Car is very strong and the added throttle response is great. I just feel the tune or drivability really is only at maybe 80%. I tried and asked if they could look at some logs and was given the cold shoulder. Jr apparently worked on this combo for 2 weeks and this is as good as it gets. I'm not too disappointed though. Car is still quick on the stock throttle body. Honestly other than throttle response I cant say whether it gained anything or not.
