GT350 as a daily driver?

Hell yea, daily drive it.

I've been daily driving an H1 for more than 2 years now...that's another vehicle that people think you can't daily drive.

If I got one I know I'd be packing on the miles. A lot of people view miles as depreciation, I view them as money well spent. If I put 250,000 miles on the car, or the Hummer, and can't sell it for anything, who cares! Think about all the fun you've had in those miles.

It's the people that pack the cars into the garage forever that make me hang my head in shame. That being said, there should be some sense in it. I live in the north which is why I got the Hummer first - I can have a fun truck all year long. If I see someone driving a sports car after a blizzard I automatically assume they make terrible decisions and/or they can't afford enough to deserve such a car. If I really wanted an awesome sports car but could only afford 1, you bet your ass I'd have a $1,000 craigslist beater as a backup.

Yeah I can see it in certain areas like the north, I mean these cars would be useless in 1/2 a foot of snow. It's smart to have at least a cheap backup if possible just in case, but to say that if you need it to be your dd then you can't afford it is just rediculous. I would definitely dd it if I could afford one and my blazer would only be driven if hail was in the forecast, and maybe not even then lol

Not true, drove my GT through the past 3 winters, and made it through every storm. Some where high enough to pack the grill with snow, and she still drove great.

Guess in your opinion those people that dd their Mercedes, audi, Porsche, Jag, Aston Martin, BMW etc. can't afford to own those either since they don't have a car of lesser status to dd huh?

You missed it. People are saying this will be the only car they can afford and are forced to DD. They are probably already stretching themselves financially to even purchase one. Who are you to say that the luxury car owners just mentioned aren't doing the same? I have many friends that should be in a 10-year-old Focus but have given up financial flexibility and freedom to drive newer, higher end cars. Hell, there's a kid at the local Discount Tire with a used R8. I don't know his financial situation, but if that's his place of employment, I think most of his income goes toward car payments.

I'm one who said I can only afford one car and will DD the GT350 if/when I get one. I have no problem paying for my current 2011 5.0, no problem paying for my GF's 2014 Escape, no problem paying my mortgage, insurance, bills, and contributing to my retirement. I do have a problem however, with paying for a car I don't want to drive because I'd rather be driving my Mustang. I do have a problem with trudging along in traffic in a vehicle that's as exciting as a dentist appointment. If I'm going to own a car, being the car enthusiast that I am, it's going to be exactly what I want. If the weather outside is too bad to be driving in my Mustang, I'll stay home. An accident in a beater POS can be just as bad as when driving a nice car especially if you get hurt.


Forced to DD? After a long day at work, I can actually look forward to my commute thanks to my Mustang. :ford:

I don't come to the forums to have someone tell me "if you use this as a DD you probably can't afford it" and I think most will agree that comment was insulting. We are all adults and can make our own financial decisions.

That being said, I was asking about different tires/wheels for DD use...not because I'm cheap, because if there is a way to use a cheaper tire for DD use and cut down on every day maintenance cost to offset the money I'll spend keeping the car up for the track then I'll do it. Ok...I am cheap too but that's not he point :-D like some others, I would like to have a DD I really enjoy...why can't that be the gt350 that I can afford?

Amen on the PSS. They are quite economical for the level of performance. ON a DD they last quite a long time, relative to other tires in their performance class.

yep, PSS are good tires.

I remember when the NSX was released. Their OE performance tires only lasted 2,000 miles. haha.. I happy there have been advancements in tire technology!

Daily driver considerations -

1) tire maintenance
2) tire performance in lower temperatures
3) fuel economy
4) insurance costs

Just as a quick check, Tire Rack listed the front tire (295/35-19) cost at $422. I presume it would be a little more for the rear 305/35-19 tires. Time to get a tire sponsor

I also am curious what insurance costs would be for this vehicle.
