I think, it'll be a great DD (from an emotional and enthusiast point of view)

logically & financially, it depends mostly on how many miles per year. And the resulting operating & maintenance cost.

The car is designed to be driven. If I buy one, it will get driven, on a daily basis - at least while the weather is good.

^^Heck no. Why would you DD this car. This is a limited production special offering with a unique engine design. It needs to be babied and taken out only on special occasions. Especially in winter climate with snow and all the elements. Just get a DD with good FE. It will be that much more enjoyable to have fun in it when the weekend hits while it keeps the mileage down thus keeping its value.
Well, some people like myself actually want a nice performance car but can't afford to have 2 or 3 cars for different occasions. And Ford has already said they will be producing this car in numbers similar to the GT500 (i.e. 4-5K per year), so if they do a 3-4 year production, that's anywhere from 12,000 to 20,000 cars.

To the OP, if you like it and can afford it, get it and enjoy the hell out of it every single day.:D

I'm thinking EB on a 2 year lease while saving for a GT350. And yes, it would be the DD.

Cars should be driven... especially GT350s.

I would enjoy it and just avoid the winter's (salt).

Daily driver considerations -

1) tire maintenance
2) tire performance in lower temperatures
3) fuel economy
4) insurance costs

Other than that, this car should be able to be happily driven all over the place. If I were to get one, it would become a collector/occasionally driven vehicle.

My hat is off to those who daily drive 'em. I did that with my '03 Mach 1 for over 4 years, accumulating 63000 miles before retiring it as the second vehicle. It's like going to Disney World...every single day.

Any idea on how long those tires typically last? In other words, what's the mileage rating? They are probably going to be f'in expensive...was wondering if it'd be worth it to get a different set of wheels and tires for DD and leave the stock ones for track days...anyone have comments to that? Worth it or it would be fine? I think it would be a good idea on the GT350R, maybe not for the regular one though...

Tires will last 5-15k miles depending on how you drive. I would imagine the tires are going to be 350-450 a piece.

Pretty set on the 350, thought about getting a beater to drive to work. But I know Ill just have to much fun in the beast to drive anything else.

Anyone else considering the 350 as their daily driver?
Don't know if it will be a daily driver, but I would certainly take it to work a couple of times a week. My past daily drives have been a 2007 GT500 w/Kenne Bell, a Hellion twin-turbo 2010 GT00 and a 2013 Boss 302, so I'm definitely not opposed to the idea. I never got the idea of buying a car only to drive it a few days out of the year.

I was thinking of the GT350 as a 3.5 season DD just keep it out of snow, ice, and sub 40 temps. With the tech pack and magneride it should be able to play the part of grand tourer very well when you are not driving all out

So for DD purposes two questions come to mind: (a) what all-season tires would be good for fall/winter/early spring driving and (b) does it seem likely that Shelby American will produce a set of classic-looking rims that would fit the new GT350?

Go with a performance winter tire over a all-season. I have Michelin Pilot Alpin PA4s on my Z and Pirelli SottoZero 3s on my BMW. The Pirellis are good, the Alpins are fantastic. Far better than a all-season tire in snow, and even better in the dry on those really cold days.

I'm in NOVA as well. Highly recommend the PA4.
