I take the R to worker as often as I can but would not consider it a daily. SC2's on FP alignment settings is much more aggressive but not dangerous and unmanageable. Definitely considering MPS4's for the next tire.

I don't DD mine because we share a commute, but when I drive in solo on occassion I love taking the R.

That said - I don't have the front splitter on - and won't be putting it on unless I'm at the track - other than aesthetics it's kinda pointless at *cough* legal *cough* street speeds.
You should install at least the non-r splitter. What's going to happen is, you'll scrape the bottom of the bumper cover and destroy the actual mounting points for the splitter, which will prevent you from actually being able to install one at all. Be careful.

So you twisted my arm and I installed it this afternoon...

I was wrong - you can definitely feel the drag created by the splitter at regular speeds. So - related to DD - I can only imagine how much my gas mileage is about to drop ... not that I drive the car economically anyway.

Feels more balanced now, though. Didn't think I would notice it at all under triple digits.

Thanks

It's a good move. Splitters like these, although expensive, are somewhat sacrificial. I ran with the non-r splitter for a long time with pretty much zero issues, if you're worried about the R version (I scraped that in pretty short order after installation).

Just be a little careful up there in and around those triple digit speeds until you get used to the difference up there. I'm expecting the car to be a little 'looser' at higher speeds now that the front is getting added aero help but the rear isn't (that we know of here). It's probably not a linear effect, and I don't know how soon or how fast it'll show up.

Thanks for the feedback.
I'm hoping the rear spoiler balances the new (to me) downforce on the front.
I hadn't noticed the front being especially light at high speeds, but I was only in a relatively straight line. I'll probably take it up today and see how it feels.

It's not the front getting light first that concerns me. It's aero-looseness from too much front/not enough rear aero that does. Vorshlag ran into this a few years ago with their red 2011 GT at one stage of that car's development.

FWIW to the daily-drivability. I don't think the 350R is sprung any firmer in terms of wheel rate than many cars with handling-oriented aftermarket springs (such as BMR's 'Handling' springs). It's as daily drivable as the individual's tolerance for - or perhaps preference for - a firm ride.

Yeah agreed - I should have said I hadn't known the front being especially light without the splitter.

I hope the engineers @ Ford got it right with the rear spoiler on the R combined with the splitter to balance out the extra downforce etc.

What did you figure out about lug nuts - esp. the front?
I ordered open end lug nuts from Discount Tire who mounted my 4S tires and waiting for those to come in. Then I can stack my OEMs on top if needed. I've always had exposed studs on previous cars and didn't mid the look. In meantime I'm running Cup2s down to CA and Laguna this weekend then will mount N4S wheels and back seat for kids.

Such a fun car!

Interesting . . . I'm in a similar situation with ARP studs. Don't mind the look either, but I have been wondering if this would postpone the inevitable corrosion of the exposed stud threads.
