My wife and I find my GT/CS to be very comfortable for both local and highway driving. The ride is surprisingly supple for the type of car it is. Even reasonable quite with the active exhaust in quite mode. The standard seats are very comfortable even for longer trips and the is plenty of interior room (at least in the front).
With all this being said comfort is highly subjective. You need to drive one and not just around the block. Only then will you know if it’s right for you.
Echoing others, the ride's fine. I'm writing from a GT Base, but.
An 18 hour trip across half the country wasn't an issue in the cloth seats; I can't imagine leather would treat you any worse. Suspension wise; of course, nothing's really going to be softer than stock springs. MagneRide may or may not be worth it; I've never had the pleasure of being in an S550 with it, unfortunately.
That said, I will agree with @Balr14 that the bottom cushions could do with like half an inch or an inch more padding to really fill them out. I'm sure an upholsterer could do so, no problem.
GT premium, it rides better than my 2014 v6 premium, i can feel the stiffness, but the car itself is very comfortable for long rides. i think the seats are great personally.
My premium auto is a great balance between comfortable, touring, and sport. It's way more daily friendly than a PP2, or GT350. Just don't push it on the turns like those other models. You'll hear the tires squeel and feel it losing grip way faster than the performance models. But yes, the quality is great.
My previous Mustangs...98GT Base was a typical 90's sports car with a solid rear axle, my 03 Roush Stage 2, had their upgraded suspension...was a very fun car handling wise but was a little rough on bumpy roads and did move around some.
This 18' GT Premium PP1 with Magnaride...wow...I love magneride and with the different modes you can go from a comfort setting to track. It really is an enjoyable car to ride in and when you want to be spirited handles beautifully. No issues with interior comfort.
I can speak to a 2020 GT premium PP1. from what I understand, the PP1 rides a little more firm, but I think it's great for a daily driver. I find the heated/cooled leather seats are very comfortable, though a bit lacking in side bolster support. If this is just your commuter/spirited driver, then that's a non-issue. The longest trip I've taken it on is about 5 hours each way and I didn't have any complaints except turnpike gas prices.
You will feel it on really bumpy roads, but then again, it's not an Oldsmobile.
If you don't have any plans on changing the suspension, I'd be willing to bet the magnaride is worth it to be able to change the damping on the fly, although that's only speculation, as I've never driven one with magnaride.
I bought it March 2021 and have about 13k on it. The active exhaust sounds amazing, and it really developed a good grumble when I put the H-pipe in, but quiet mode is still nice and quiet.
Good call on the manual trans, but I would recommend a short shifter, and not the way I did it. I bought a cheap one from Steeda that did shorten the throw, but that's it. My buddy has one with the MGW shifter and it really tightens up the shifting. But it's expensive, so keep that in mind.
I have 20" wheels on my 19 GT Premium and the short sidewalls of the tires make rough roads a little jarring but nothing I can't live with. The leather seats are very comfortable and my only issue I have is after a long drive my right knee gets a little sore from the way it's bent so I can keep my foot on the gas petal. Using the cruise control allows me to rest it on the straight stretches.
Can't wait! Bought the car for the wife and me to cruise the country backroads and travel. Just got the build date may 9th. Comfortable ride and performance! Yahoo! Thanks for all the info members.
I think seat comfort may be a matter of your age and weight. If you are heavy (225), it's like sitting on bricks. The older you get, the less padding you have.
Just bought a '22 GT Premium with Magneride. Love it! Even on Michigan roads filled with potholes, I feel like the car does a great job at handling unexpected bumps and holes. Not as good as a luxury car, but I think it does the job for the price point.
The condition of the tires is the real determining factor in ride quality.
Brand new tires are amazing, but then RQ gets steadily worse as the tires wear. Then you get new tires, and the RQ is great again.
What's funny is TireRack.com reviews; "Well, the old tires were terrible, and the new tires are the greatest thing ever. I will never buy the old tires again!!!" Never realizing the "old tires" were great when they were new, and all tires get crappy as they wear.
