Most probably a stupid question, but I must ask it.
Are these nostrils for real? Do they serve any useful purpose? Or is it just a design thing?

If you look carefully through the vent they do have a hole through them, but its much smaller than what the vent would suggest.

They also have quite an intricate seal and drip tray assembly so any water that passes though them drains in a controlled manner - look under your bonnet at the liner in the vent area :like:

Yep, as above they actually do vent heat, which is quite needed given how hot these V8's run. The actual outlet ends up being kind of small because of the rain trays though.

Indeed, if I look carefully I can see something that looks like a hole under the plastic grille. At a first, quick glance they looked like simple plastic ornaments to me. Besides, Ecoboosts have them, too, and I wouldn't think that a 2.3 liter inline-four should need extra heat venting - which accentuated my suspicion that they might be fake. But it's all clear now.
Thanks. :like:

Thank you.

They are heat extractors. So yes they do serve a purpose! Definitely would recommend keeping those lol.

Functional yes - otherwise the Coyote snot wouldn't come out from under the hood :)

Yes, they are heat extractors and they do just that :)
Kinda. I't primary job is to bleed off high pressure build up under the hood. Or at least that's what I've read.

They used to be one of my least favorite design elements of the MY18+, then I grew to kind of like them.

The problem is they're conspicuously inconspicuous. So I made them more obvious :D
