Got my car and drove it all day.

Yes I know you want to see pictures, I have lots but not with my M5. I'm sure if I post the pictures here, no one will believe it's real, the only way you'll believe me is if I post a picture of both cars side by side. I will do that as soon as I can.

Anyways, here is what I think:

- I have received more attention in 24 hours in this car than I have all years of my BMW M cars driving combined
- The sound is insane
- The suspension is amazing, in normal mode its more comfortable than my M5 in Comfort, in sport mode, it's stiffer than my M5 by a long shot
- The features (apple play, navigation, dual zone A/C, etc) is just simply unreal for a car at this price point
- Clutch is very soft
- Transmission is the best I have seen and I have driven the metzger 997 GT3s and the new GT4. This is better than both cars

My only true gripe is and it's not really a fault of the car, but let's call it "wish list", is BMW has this cool feature where when you put the car in reverse, the side view mirror tilts down, I wish this car had that feature.

Overall, I am extremely happy. I am also so glad that I didn't get the R, I cannot imagine how I would DD that car seeing how loud this car is and how many times I have already scraped the undercarriage even after trying a 45 degree exit angle.

One last word, thank you for putting up with me all these months. In the end, I am truly happy and I am smiling.

Oh and before I leave, my car's paint is perfect, believe it or not my panel gaps are all spot on (front bumper, back bumper, all quarter panels). It's almost like Ford heard all my complaints and made this perfect car for me and said "give us another chance".

Alright, I am going to go look at the car again sitting my garage. So cool right next to my M5!:)

Thanks guys:)
I don't believe you have an M5, nor that you have a 350... I went through 2 generations of M5 (owned both F10 and E60) and it's a long shot between Normal mode in M5 and Normal mode in the GT350, with the latter being way stiffer and crashing harder on bumps...
Sorry, just can't swallow that.

Congrats on the purchase! I work right by the track. It is such a great track. I keep trying to convince myself to take their Raptor course.

Guys,

Thanks for all the nice words, I just started her this morning and took it for a drive. What a car, what a car...

The XPEL however is a problem, I got quoted $1500-2000 just the front end and nothing is 100% guaranteed that it will save the paint? It's a lot of money to be honest, I could probably get the bumper repainted 3 times for the cost of that XPEL job?

And entire car is around $4000-5000.
I'm not either. I'll put about 5k miles on a year as it is my daily driver- and when it comes time to trade in in about 7 to 10 years the dealership isn't going to offer me 3k more on trade in based on 3 to 5 small rock chips that I'm likely to have.

Having said that, I keep my cars pretty meticulously clean.

You will have far more than 3-5 rock chips after 35-50k miles, the paint is really terrible.

I might be a bit high on the miles. I had my Boss for 5 years and put 25 on it. There was one or two small chips on it? I doubt the paint work has dropped off that precipitously since 2011.

Unfortunately it seems to have. My S197 had better paint quality than my GT350

My 15' GT had about 5-6 chips and a couple mushroomed dings in the bumper after 6kmi. It's bad.

This probably deserves its own thread, but the cost of this paint protection is so much that I dont know if its really worth it? $1500 for a front end is the cheapest I found.

I had bumper and paint work done before in my M cars and the costs were:

- Bumper respray:400
- Full bumper strip and respray:800
- Brand new bumper and paint:1500
- Brand new bumper, brand new quarter panel, paint blending 50% of hood: 2300

And the other thing is xpel isnt 100% protection. Its not made out of steel is it? It can still pierce and the paint might still go puff.

This is actually an area I am not knowledgable. Everyone keeps saying peace of mind but the cost is as much as of a full repaint. Based on my experience strip painting the front bumper and hood together will probably cost $2000 whereas xpel is $1500 (and thats the cheap end). And all in all its not guaranteed?

Me crazy, and I can't help myself
If you plan on keeping the car for a long time its worth it to know that its protected and taken care of. If you usually sell you're not going to recoup your investment on trade or private sale.
