This guy^ gets it.

I had a new 1999-00 Z06. The cornering force even at 28mph was visceral and in control. It was so light, agile and perfect form of pedal, steering and engine response.

But the antiquated suspension eventually led me back to BMW. But magneride makes that point moot now. So as the GT350 (& GT350r) enter the arena thing change a tad bit.

Both (GT350 & C7) are fully competent tack, road coarse cars, both within $15,000'ish of each other?

Mustang VS Vette has and will always go on.
And the Mustang predominantly is/will always be the underdog. But the street battle are not about whos cars the best.. as GT Pony said above^. The engagement is just a test, an acknowledgement of the practice.

Glad the OP had fun. But never in traffic.

I wonder how the GT350 will fare against the Corvette on the back strait @ Circuit of the Americas (& can I listen..?). How do they compare with aero Cd and what is the VE of a that 5.2 liter FPC @ 8,250rpms vs that chevy..???

Myself, I think the GT350 w/magneride will offer a better driving experience. I can not wait to see 70~120mph pulls between these two cars. Along with the new M2 coming.

Coincidentally, I want to hear more about whether Ford Performance offers that Track Attack program. Or makes it a clubsport car.

I am waiting.

With the base C7 I wouldn't mind playing on a decent road course. Even with the suspension stuff I'm going to lose ground in the corners but with an approx. 200hp advantage I'm going to gain in the straights. On the other hand, a good friend just took delivery of his Z06 with the Z07 package ($109K sticker) and that thing is ridiculous. It corners so hard it's painful and quite frankly can operate at a capacity I'm just not interested in experiencing. Spirited driving is fun for me, those things are well beyond spirited.

The .373's would have made a big difference in that scenario. Also being in the correct gear.

Weird.. No such thing as a 1999-2000 Z06. How does one not remember a year of a car they owned, especially an "enthusiast"?

You're saying you gained 200hp with the Roush charger?
Nope. No idea how much of the HP the SC is good for. LT's were worth 30. Who knows how the combo works with a conservative Roush tune meant only for the Roush SC.

Not weird, the following year they took the order-code and just put it on the outside Z06.

FRC.

WHAT????
I ordered my FRC. It was not a convertible, nor a Coupe.

I remember when ordering, seeing the Z06 check box. 6 month later, the next Model Year FRC comes out w/Z06 on the outside of the car w/upgrades.

Both model years are within 38lbs of each other. My FE3 suspension was brutal and great at the same time and changed out some of it. HP in that engine were easy to come by, but for most tracks 120mph+ doesn't factor in much.

FRC and Z06 are not the same things. FRC = LS1 - Z06 = LS6
Yeah, the whole HP thing...

Just like the HP thing between the C7 and the GT350. But lets wait and see how they handle a track against each other.

IMHO my fave quote in the thread. Those Vette's (esp Z06 and last gen ZR1 and even the C5 Z06 and C6 Z06) have a performance envelope that's so high (like the GTR) that its really hard having fun driving those things on the street or in any spirited manner and in many cases even the track unless you are Randy Pobst. Even Randy Pobst, one of the fastest guys out there said he finds the Vette's challenging to drive but ridiculously fast. Those ultra-wide sticky rear tires and the light rear end means that it's going to grip and then suddenly let go at some incredible G level (I have not driven the new Z06).

There's that saying that I somewhat agree with (more fun to drive a slow car fast...). However, for me I do like a solid shove and the ability to finesse the rear end (which is also why hot hatches, STI etc are not as much fun) and in that regard the Mustang is one of the best options out there, in all trims. Also, another reason I am not installing an S/C or super wide rear meats.

I have a GTPP 15 with full exhaust, airaid and livernois 6 speed and can take a stock C7 all day. Never raced it stock to stock but I can imagine it would be close right now I beat the C7 pretty hard. The C7 is lighter but with my mods I'm over 500 crankhp compared to 400chp.
I was worried at first almost wanted to have a 100 shot at my disposal if the race stared not going my way but no need.
I graduated high school in 2005 when the new 300hp new body mustang GTs came out and in 10 years the advances ford have made are crazy to the mustang.....

I thought it was hilarious because when I pulled up next to him it was an older guy and he was waving his finger at me like "Not today, son!" I just cracked up. Below is a pic I took before he took off the first time.
Forgive me, but this is the first thing that popped into my head when I read that:

[ame]

My apologies, that movie it terrible (in a good way)

Anyways I want a C7 later on when I can get a used one for a fraction of the price to just have fun in
