I love/hate MPG threads. There's always some internet bragger that gets 40 mpg with his big block 1967 Corvette.

I get about 20-21 in my daily commute. On the highway with the cruise set it might get 24 for a short time, but if there are hills, a head wind or any traffic, or if the speed limits are 70+, you aren't going to get much better than that. 28-29, no I call BS on that claim. I don't believe you are cruising down the interstate at 50 mph trying to eek out the best mpg possible.

if you drive a GT and brag about MPG somethings wrong with you, One does not drive a Mustang GT to care about its Smile Per Gallon

I live in Westfield indiana, and took a trip to Goshen indiana. I have 3:31 gears and I ran 70-75 half of it, the other half was 2 lane road through small towns. When I started the trip, I was at 320 to E and when I got there, I took the picture. So. Personally, I don't care if people don't believe me, I'm not gonna argue. I saw on here where people were getting mpgs like this and wanted to see how they did it. So, I made sure to leave with plenty of of time, and I wasn't in any rush. I have plans to build this car, so I wanted to get a good base, and then check it as I build it. Like I said, I don't care if people believe me, I just wanted to show that if you don't drive like a pissed off teenager, it's possible.

not bragging, just pleasantly surprised since i am using it as a DD. It still sees occasional "proper" use

Lol I guess the moderator deleted my original comment so I'll state it less abrasively. Resetting you're mpg calculator after you've already gotten up to speed cruising on a highway says very little about your actual fuel efficiency

The early 70's Corvettes got great highway mileage too because of the aerodynamics. This Mustang cuts through the wind nicely too.

I see 20.3 consistently per tank back and forth to work (and the gym at lunch). 24 was my best mpg going to Santa Rosa Beach, FL from SC right after I bought it. 17.5 has been the worst and that was a tank of me driving it like I stole it.

Not a claim. It is fact. I-94 has hills and 70 mph speed limit. See below.

95.5 mi / 80 minutes and 24 seconds = 71 mph average. Cruise at 75 mph, a little bit of traffic, and that includes accelerating up to speed from the fuel stop. I have seen better average than this (30 mpg is my best) on the same freeway route at 75 mph cruise. The GT with 3.31 rear axle can do this. I didn't buy the car for fuel economy, but the fact that it can do this is an awesome bonus.

We done here?

you guys drive like babies. in 5200 miles my mpg for the 5200 miles is 16.2

normal tank somewhere between 15-19

even with cruise control on the highway, it doesn't really get over 22-24 since I'm normally going 80mph.

My PP car is almost broke in. Initially the best it would get is 17 but now I'm seeing 20 in mixed hwy/city, just an occasional blip with no craziness. I should know some good numbers after this weekend for just hwy, but on a 45 min trip last week I got 22 and it was still climbing. It was telling me the range was 296 based on miles already driven.
