Good MPG in a GT

With a stick. Straight highway. Staying at posted limit. Cruise control on. 29 to 30 is 100% achievable.

These numbers are not hard to get in a coyote on the freeway. Some people can't accept that the freeway numbers aren't far off between the two models. I just got 29mpg average on a 4-hour freeway trip down to VA, setting cruise at 75mph. I got 31mpg doing the same trip in my EB Mustang 6 months ago.

Agreed in general but this one is staying surprisingly civil! Both are fantastic engines. No need to argue which is better because they both are!

See the averages. No crazy driving just normal at posted driving. It's so hard to not drive the car spirited. Considering though spirited in my GT is around 17. Spirited in my old R/T was 9

My Coyote is a bit more thirsty than that. The best I've been able to coax from her is 25.5 MPG during a long cruise @ 70 MPH in light traffic. My daily mix of city and stop & go usually nets me around 17.

Of course, I didn't expect much given how my car is optioned and the fact that it has to haul my fat ass around.

I'd be pretty disappointed if the GT couldn't get 26mpg on a run.

My old Mercury Grand Marquis got 26mpg for motorway trips at between 70mph and 90mph.

ie very few people were overtaking me.

My London commute was a different matter though. 16 miles that took around 1.5 hours. All city streets, stop/start traffic and tons of traffic lights.

When I was unsure of the car (Biggest car on UK roads aside from older US stuff and steering on the wrong side) I took it easy and was getting 16mpg but when I started driving it like my little E36 BMW it dropped to 12mpg.

Still, not bad for a 4.6 V8 with only 220bhp to lug around 2 tons of car.

British petrol at around $8 a gallon tends to mean only real enthusiasts or the very rich run big engined cars.

Damn, I usually see about low 17ish on Average... My car only has 1500 miles on it though and I don't have much highway driving. About 5-10 minutes of possible highway-like speeds and the rest is city

The day I brought my GT home from Milford Delaware (I live near Atlantic City NJ) i got 26.2 mpg. That was traveling 70-75 on US 1. Then basically stop and go on Rte.40 once back in NJ. It can be done if you can keep your right foot off the floor.

On a 50 mile trip I managed 26MPG. On my daily commute it's about half that.

Yes you can get good highway mileage. I routinely drive between Michigan and Chicago and my lowest trip average (~300 miles) is 27 mpg. The highest is 30 mpg. This is at 75 mph cruise, and I reset the trip when I refuel before starting the drive. I can post pictures for those of you who refuse to believe it :shrug:.
