I ordered a prosport evo premium oost gauge and fuel pressure gauge that I want to install sometime soon. I've read the threads related to wiring for gauges, watched a couple videos, etc. I wanted to ask where you guys were tapping for constant 12v power (or are you running a wire to the battery) and accessory power, and if anyone was actually wiring for the dimmer switch. I see reference to wiring the dimmer switch, but please bear with me as I struggle with wiring. If anyone has an answer or can point me to a thread or something, I would appreciate it.

Edit: they sent me 2 fuel gauges. I guess I have a few days to figure out the wiring while I wait on the boost gauge to ship. Frustrating.
I have the same two guages: right now just prosport digital boost

Do you remember how you wired it or where you looked for the info? I had a nightmare once in the past where I tried to tap a fuse and bent some contacts under the fuse box that resulted in some of the wildest issues imaginable lol.

it is fusebox wired with something like this 15A fuse tap

https://www.amazon.com/JABINCO-Circuit-Adapter-Blade-Holder/dp/B0827L4HH9/ref=sr_1_3?crid=2JGGBFVS0B3IO&keywords=15A+fuse+tap&qid=1653483589&sprefix=15a+fuse+tap,aps,205&sr=8-3

I didn't hook it up but the auto dim function and everything works

Okay, I'm back. I am trying to figure out where to tap/splice for 12v accessory power. I bought an add a fuse but it isn't the right size (mini) so if I can just splice a wire that would be great.

Edit: gauge is prosport evo premium with wires for 12v constant, accessory 12v, and dimmer. I assume the accessory is what I need for basic power when the car turns on/accessory is on and the constant is just for memory settings.

Edit: so I wrapped a wire around fuse 2 in the passenger fuse box for accessory, wrapped one around fuse 3 for constant 12v, and ran a ground next to the fuse box. Gauge isn't getting power though, but the fuse 2(power windows) is good because the windows work. Any ideas?

Edit again: tried changing accessory to fuse 53, cigar lighter, in the engine bay. Still no power. Is it my ground? I am just trying to find the right places to run wire, I will clean it up once I know it works.

Edit: I figured it out. The damn harness for the gauge has the accessory wire and the ground wire colors switched.

One more edit: what size is the fuel line? I need to get a t fitting for my fuel pressure gauge.

Boost/Vacuum and AFR are all I ever need to be readily available to view. Everything else is already built it to view of I need it. Just plumbed up a 2 1/16”(52mm) Autometer Pro-Comp boost/vacuum gauge yesterday. Waiting on the pod to arrive to mount it.

What’s it look like now?

I used an Ngauge to monitor when I was running a whipple tune. Well worth the price even to just use as a gauge.
sorry came across this and also have a Whipple supercharger 2017 what did you monitor with n gauge?

Anybody messing with Carduino or CANBUS type gauges? I've stumbled upon a few projects, I don't necessarily want to get into coding to have it (like writing software for an app to configure a display etc) but I'd really like to have data available all the time at higher rates than the low priority diagnostic port. Looking for something like the Banks iDash but that monitors CANBUS traffic rather than polling through OBD2.

Mine is a little on the old school side. GT350 center gauges with a Boss gauge pod, housing Autometer Sport Comp gauges.

Gauges like the Banks iDash or AeroForce Interceptor pull data from the CAN bus at the OBD port. I used to run an AeroForce Interceptor that I cut the OBD plug off of and wired it straight to the CAN bus. I believe Banks even sells an iDash that hard wires straight to the CAN bus.

The problem is the banks idash is junk. $400 and it can’t track fuel pressure/knock or oil pressure. 🤦🏼‍♂️🤦🏼‍♂️. I am leaning towards the AeroForce interceptor dual gauges where Pp gauges are but I am waiting to see if it shows fuel pressure on 18+ cars that have a sensor stock.

I looked at the PID list for the iDash and was unimpressed. I have an Interceptor, but I’m not near my car right now so I can’t verify gen 3 fuel pressure or oil pressure. I wasn’t too concerned about those PIDs though. I know it can do knock and if it can’t do fuel/oil pressure you can always add pressure senders and feed it into the gauge. I’m going to do that with the ethanol content from my Zeitronix ECA-2.

That’s the problem I don’t wanna do. Oil and fuel pressure are annoying to add and they almost always leak at some point lol. Only reason I want an OBD style gauge is for fuel and oil pressure (since I’m losing my PP oil pressure gauge) and knock. So ya we will see. Is your car a GT? When you have time if you could see if you can see fuel pressure and or oil Pressure that would be great. Oil pressure seems super obvious that it’s there as the car is reading a signal from the OBD as it’s also a gauge on dash.

I will check on it when I can. It might be a little while.

@GR1MxREAPER we may have chatted a bit in a Facebook thread.

@mejohn50 the problem with both the banks and Aeroforce gauges regarding freezing data is due to them using the OBD2 protocol to poll information at the diagnostic port. The diagnostic port is typically assigned the lowest priority on CANBUS controllers and slow anyway, but with this Roush strategy the ECU gets very busy with rapid load changes, especially transitioning between boost and vacuum. If I "tap" the throttle rapidly the gauge will freeze for seconds at a time, update figures, freeze again, etc, it's not reliable. The next part is that neither allow you to write or configure PIDs (I'll admit this is an assumption I'm making about the Interceptor product range solely based on them offering them for specific car models and year ranges).

A device that will just listen to the whole CANBUS doesn't need to poll and wait for a response from whatever module you're trying to get data from and will refresh as fast as that module is updating. I apologize I'm not prepared with links etc, HPT forums had a discussion about CANBUS over OBD2 vs serial, and then CANchecked offer "gauge clusters" to run on CANBUS as well as some OBD2 type gauges, I did try find where they worded the difference but cannot seem to find it again. I wish I still "bookmarked" pages like I used to.
