It's my daily driver. Funny enough, it's the second slowest I've owned. Owning a mustang doesn't necessitate driving like a DB.

Edit:

I own a GT for the same reason as the 95% other GT owners. I love the style, love the smoothness of the coyote motor, and love the seating position. If all I cared about was speed, I would have picked up a new Camaro SS for invoice.

I try to understand everyone's opinions on various subjects, but what I have never been able to accept are any of the justifications behind purchasing a sportscar and filling it with shitty econofuel. Putting premium octane gasoline in a high-performance engine is part of owning a car that has one. You just do it and you embrace that before making your purchase. Who buys a modern V8 and says to themselves I think I'll treat my car to the cheapest crapgas I can find?

It's about that much here, $10-15 difference--I still fill up with premium. I'm not a rich man by any means so I factor the price difference of unleaded and premium into my finances, because I'm not putting shitty gas in my sportscar. You may be fine with using the lowest octane possible, and that's OK because I agree with you: it's freedom of choice. I don't judge you at all, I just don't understand it. :shrug:

I personally didn't buy a sports car...I purchased a mustang. Semantics, maybe.

There is nothing crappy about 87 octane. It's the base fuel that Ford recommends, and will do no harm to your engine. The additives are the same regardless, so the only difference is the small bump in horsepower you'll get from the vehicle being able to throw a bit more timing into the mix.

Per Ford..

2.3L EcoBoost and 5.0L V8 Engines
We recommend regular unleaded gasoline
with a pump (R+M)/2 octane rating of 87.
Some stations offer fuels posted as regular
with an octane rating below 87, particularly
in high altitude areas. We do not
recommend fuels with an octane rating
below 87.
To provide improved performance, we
recommend premium fuel for severe duty
usage, such as trailer tow.

You obviously choose to spend the extra money for premium. The benefits you get from it are obviously worth it....to you. You're engine will not last any longer than mine running 87 octane, nor will your drive-ability appreciably change. For me, I have peace of mind knowing that I have an extra $40/month that for me would have been otherwise wasted.

I didn't mean to imply that econofuel would do harm to your engine or that octane level is somehow indicative of fuel "purity" or quality. I know there is no difference in fuel quality between grades aside from maybe the amount of detergents. My bad if my comment somehow suggested otherwise. Let me rephrase it: I don't understand why someone would purchase a sportscar that performs best on high octane fuel and then intentionally fill it with the lowest performing fuel they can find.

That is a good argument and I don't disagree with you. It's your money and you can spend it how you want. I factor better fuel into my monthly budget (I have to use premium anyway due to my tune.) I never implied that you couldn't fill up with 87 octane. I just said I didn't understand it.

All kidding aside, if the difference between 87 and 93 was anywhere close to what it used to be (~$.20/gal), I would have a much smaller issue ponying (pun intended) up the extra cash. In all likelihood however, I would continue to run 87. One thing I won't do is drink cheap beer.

An upside of cutting your beer budget (and thus your beer standards) is that you eventually stop being surprised when every place in town offers you Budweiser Select when you ask them what's their "nicest beer." :doh:

I miss being in the big city sometimes. I do like these wide open country roads though.
