On the tt explorers and sho the tune added a good 100 awtq. Easy. Hp slightly less on pump gas. A tuned sho or explorer is a very quick animal. There are many on drag times in the 11s. I have taken many SRT8 challengers off the line. People would come up and ask"what is that thing"?

Back to the original thread topic: according to some believable sources the Coyote came from the need to improve on Mustang's 300 hp V8 but without any changes to the size or mounting, etc. The only way to get 400 HP from 5.0 was with lots of cams and valves and here we are.

Ford will do whatever is profitable. If it costs less to adapt the S650 for a OHV 6.2 (or whatever it may be) than it is to continue to build relatively $$$ DOHC engines then that is what we will get. The least costly way to keep up with Camaro is the likely choice.

Forced induction at less than 1% of the mix is not a concern, those engines make for good road tests and get people into the showroom but don't affect the bottom line (or maybe even negatively).

I like the Coyote and how it delivers power, I liked my LT1 too, V8 engines are good!
