Fun MPG fact. Me and some buddies took a road trip, two cars. The Stang got almost the same MPG as a 2015 V6 explorer. Not bad.
You must have been stuck behind the explorer :giggle:.

But ya, fuel efficiency has come a long way. <20 mpg might not be good by today's standards but I haven't forgotten the day when a 500 hp v8 was lucky to get 12 mpg.

Yep. I had it set on 82 the whole way, nothing crazy. And not bad mpg's.

Yep mine is usually around 50 miles to go when the light comes on, then I hit the Costco. It generally takes 11-12 gallons.

17mpgx4 gallons means it sand bags a little, but almost all new cars do that. How many people you know, especially wives, that ride that counter to almost zero?

I know what you mean about "wives". It applies even to oil changes (some men too though, to be fair) as I regularly saw people bringing in Honda Odysseys and other models with -300 or more on the oil life monitor (that's 300 miles beyond 0% oil life!) I guess people are so busy today that they can't even take it in to a 30 minute fast lube place. So much for technology giving us more "free time". Yes, the Mustang is incredible on fuel economy. As long as I drive it where it'll actually get into 10th gear and converter lockup, it'll easily give me 19+ mpg. That's pretty good for a powerful car in the "islands". Mainland driving should be a no-brainer to get 20+ easily all the time. (BTW, 2nd generation Honda Fit gives 40+ on long drives with oil life reaching 15% after nearly 10,000 miles.)

Usually for me if I fill up with about 10 mile range left its pretty close to what I suspect that would be gallons wise.

I remember once I was in an Altima with an 18gal tank, I took it to get gas and filled up with 18.02gal. I must have been on pure fumes pulling into the station.

It'd be nice IMHO if the Mustang fuel tank held another gallon or two, but something else would probably have to be compromised to make that work...

My 450 Hp 1971 Roadrunner with a modified 440 cid / automatic / 2500 stall / 3.91 gears on a good day going downhill with a tailwind got I sh*t you not 7 mpg. I cried every time I looked at the gas gauge when on a Sunday night cruise haha.

No kidding. You'd have to diligently plan out any extended trip in that thing haha. Side note; I love that car!

Not sure why no is talking about this but I adjusted my AFE bias to 1025 for my EB to stop getting premature alerts. I'm about a quarter of a gallon away from being right with the 25 mile warning.

I thought of this thread when I filled up this past Sunday. I was on exactly 1/4 tank, 98 miles to E, and it took 12.1 gallons. That's my 'normal' fill point. It was $3.37/gallon for Shell 93.

My 2020 ecoboost base mustang suprised me when the mt light lite up with a 1/4 tank left in it. Telling me 50 miles to mt! Wanting to run it low anyway. Added five gallons 93 octane and two gallons E85 to tank. Will be sitting in staging lanes Fiday night!

....I haven't punched it much at all during this first 1000 miles.....
You should be crushing the pedal. Don't baby the engine, it needs heat and pressure to properly bed in rings, valves, etc.

If you baby it, you might end up with an oil-burner engine.

I never had an issue with oil burning on any Honda or Ford that I broke in this way. I'm not saying I never "punched it", I just don't do it for a long time (like running 1/4 mile runs). But I do floor it once in a while like merging into freeways going uphill, etc. Now that I have done the first 1000, the next 2000 will be more of a good "mix" of driving (though I have to turn off my phone if I'm going to be aggressive as I don't want my insurance discounts to disappear since I have that "safe driving" app active).

Mash. The. Throttle. Frequently and with verve.

I find it odd people are willing to be continuously monitored. Especially Mustang owners.

What insurance company?

State Farm. I have to tell you that it's worth it. I also have a 2012 Fit with 250K/500K liability, $0 deductible Comp, $100 deductible collision, uninsured and underinsured stuff and I pay $195 every 6 months; used to be $320 before the discounts settled in. BTW, Geico quoted me over $1000 annually for the same coverage; yeah save 15% or more.... ha-ha! My GT is a new policy so it's $325 for 6 months with same coverages initially; I expect it to drop once data has settled in for the next renewal date.
