might want to re-read the law. mustangs would require it since ford makes a bracket for it. I believe that if you challenge it, law will show that ford offers a bracket for the mustang as a part number showing it's available:

NRS 482.275  License plates: Display.
1.  The license plates for a motor vehicle other than a motorcycle, moped or motor vehicle being transported by a licensed vehicle transporter must be attached thereto, one in the rear and, except as otherwise provided in subsection 2, one in the front.
2.  If the motor vehicle was not manufactured to include a bracket, device or other contrivance to display and secure a front license plate, and if the manufacturer of the motor vehicle provided no other means or method by which a front license plate may be displayed upon and secured to the motor vehicle:
(a) One license plate must be attached to the motor vehicle in the rear; and
(b) The other license plate may, at the option of the owner of the vehicle, be attached to the motor vehicle in the front.

all that said, after reading this morning, I counted cars while waiting for the light at boulder/nellis and stopped after 35 without front plates :)
My statements are based on advice from the Carson City DMV office. YMMV.

I used radiator fan connectors and attached it to the left side of my upper grill. I live in California so it's not a matter of if they're going to pull you over for it, it's when.

I live in Ks not front plate required. Have driven through 80% of US and have never been stopped in two plate states.

No front plates required or helmets for motorcycles in Oklahoma. Come on down to God's Country!

PA doesn't have front plates but some congress person is trying to change that which is just dumb.

I didn't have a front plate on my Focus ST and got pulled over and ticketed for it in TX. I guess it just depends on if the cop is bored or not.
What did the ticket cost? I've been pulled over for no front plate, but never received a ticket. I was under the potentially incorrect impression that there was no actual penalty for omitting a front plate in TX. Been pulled over by city, county, and state highway patrol - but no fine for missing a plate.

When I lived in NJ I never ran a front plate on the Mustang (told the dealer do not drill or I won't accept the car) or my Bronco (broke the mount off on the trail and never put it back on)

I never got bothered in the Mustang, I got a ticket in the Bronco one time by a state trooper but it was in addition to other stuff, wasn't the reason for being pulled over.

One of my co-workers at the time got hassled by the police in his red Focus ST for having no front plate and tints, meanwhile they never looked at me in my car with no front plate and tints.

At the end of the day its a crapshoot

I don’t remember the cost, I’m pretty sure it was a fix it ticket. I do remember it was the only reason the cop pulled me over.

I’m in Connecticut and they require a front plate. I don’t run front plates on any of my cars and have never been stopped for it. Good friend of mine, retired State Police doesn’t run any front plates either.
I think in most states that require 2 plates, none of the LEOs would pull you over just for a missing front license plate. However, if they get you for a moving violation, then they'll add the missing plate onto the citation. Half of the vehicles I see in Utah do NOT have front plates mounted (all the commercial trucks and rigs do however as they go interstate).

I work for the state of Connecticut so should I get pulled over most violations would be overlooked.

I'm in western Washington state. My GT came without the front holes but came with a plate bracket kit to put on. Local cops, sheriffs or highway patrol don't seem to be too concerned with it or even the recently illegal clear or tinted plate covers. I've been going frontless for a few years now. I just keep it in the glovebox.

i've never gotten a ticket for just that but i did get another one (same cop as last time with my old truck) because he let me off with a warning for speed. in houston its a $10 fix it ticket.

i've never got a ticket for this in my life until i ran into this one cop and in the last 2 years this guy got me twice.

throw it on the car, take a pick, take that to the judge, pay your ten bucks, and you're done.

You do realize how weird you sound, right?

Anyways, I live in TX and don't think I've been pulled over for it specifically, but I have received a citation for it when being pulled over for something else.
Be careful in Montgomery County. About a year or so ago, I got pulled over by an MC sheriff deputy *specifically* for not having a plate and I wasn't the only one. I only got a warning but I went ahead and bought a drillless plate mount to avoid any more hassles.

If the state you live in requires a front plate, you should have a front plate.

You, nor your car, are above the law. Get a front plate.

It is probably a lower risk driving around without a front plate if you insist you are a special someone; but it is likely to increase your traffic stop bill if you get pulled over for something else or if you are parked in a metered/surveillance lot you might see a higher parking ticket amount.

From CA which definitely requires but I don't run one because the dealer didn't install the front bracket and wasn't going to ask. No problems yet and I've even been pulled over by CHP once. In my area I think it's really not an issue to most law enforcement unless you're being an a-hole. Pretty much same with tint as long as it's not totally ridiculous limo style tint. All that being said, if eventually I do get hit up on it, I'll probably go with the no-show bracket myself.
