Chrysler withdrew factory support. I've heard rumors that Honda might join NASCAR which means you'll probably be seeing Accords. In regards to GM/Chevy, how long can they run the Camaro body after it's discontinued? Also, what body will they use? Cadlillac CT5?
EDIT: Did a little digging...
Now that you mention it, I do remember NASCAR tightening down on the templates back in the mid-to-late 80s. The T-birds had such an aero advantage over the GM products that I'm sure GM wanted to be sure they didn't get any more advantage by tweaking the body lines.
NASCAR was already talking about ways to slow the cars down in 1985. That crash might have been the catalyst but it was already in discussion before that.
I found some info about . It was a rumor cooked up by Darrell Waltrip and Junior Johnson but never verified. So just a conspiracy theory from sore losers.
Who remembers the 1985 Talladega 500? Bill Elliot developed an oil leak and ended up 2 laps down after repairs were made. He lapped the field twice and won the race. He was running 205mph while everyone else was runningn 195-200. That's why we have restrictor plates now.
I was a NASCAR fan from the late 70s to the early 90s (I loved the old school T-birds). I got re-interested in it when they announced the current Gen 7 cars and because they do more road courses now. Ovals are OK except for the superspeedways. They're yawners until the big wreck happens that...
My car developed the rear squeak and I thought it was suspension related but then I found this thread. I put the rear seats down and the squeak disappeared. A few shots lithium grease on the hinges and latches fixed it. I'm glad I kept searching and found this super cheap fix!
