Its funny; I always have a front plate on my car.
I see people without the front; nothing seems to ever happen to them.

When my Craig's bracket fell off, I drove around town for like 3 days with no front before I realized it... Nothing.

When I got my Mach 1 front end put on; picked it up from the body shop, drove home, parked, went inside, had a snack, came out with my new bracket and tools to install it - parked there for 20 minutes... had a ticket for no front plate... you can't make this shit up.
Wow I've never had a issue and I drive my cars a lot

I reside in NJ; the law requires it. When I order my new Mustangs, I always pay extra for the front license plate bracket.

A lot of drivers in NJ put their front license plate tucked inside the corner of their windshield. I'm not sure if the Police accept it or not?

Idaho requires a front plate. A few years ago, a ground roots movement developed to eliminate that requirement. It was opposed by testimony from local law enforcement. The resulting drama was reported in the local news. State legislation was introduced to make a change, but was narrowly defeated. At the time, it was thought that the publicity would make it likely that the effort would be successful at the next legislative session.

A recently retired deputy told me that after the hubbub quieted down, they were instructed to stop writing tickets for this. The thought was that since it was a small, but vocal minority that was pushing for the change, if enforcement was curtailed, that small group would stop pushing for a law change. Yes, the scofflaws could run sans front plate without consequence, but in return, the law-abiding majority would still run their front plates. There's been little talk of a change to the law since then.

In Minnesota it is a $300.00 fine for no front plate. I run an electric retractile plate and if I get pulled over I just hit the remote button and the plate slide out and flips up. It looks like a solid mount when it is up. Veritech is the brand and it is $100.00 It mounts to the bottom valance and is hard wired to my under hood fuse box it has two fobs and an illuminated button you can mount under the dash.

How can they ticket you on your own property?

I live in Illinois where its required to have a front plate, I have literally never ran a front plate on my fun cars mostly Mustangs and WRX, in my 23 years of having them and only got 1 warning for it when pulled over for something else in my TBSS... pulled over other times and they never even mentioned it. I guess it just depends on the officer.

Front plate is required in Nevada unless it would require drilling holes to mount it. My Jeep has had aftermarket steel bumpers since 2012 with no place for a front plate, and my Mustang bumper isn't drilled (per my request). No front plates and I haven't been ticketed or pulled over for any reason.

I didn't have a front plate on my Focus ST and got pulled over and ticketed for it in TX. I guess it just depends on if the cop is bored or not.
It also depends on where exactly you are. In the DFW area I've been driving without a front plate on my Mustang since 2020 without issues. However, someone I know who lives in a small town an hour outside of DFW has been pulled over twice for it in the last year.

In Texas it's required to be mounted in the front of the car, so that doesn't work. When I see people with the plate in the windshield I figure they're making it easier for the cops to notice they're not legal. :giggle:

might want to re-read the law. mustangs would require it since ford makes a bracket for it. I believe that if you challenge it, law will show that ford offers a bracket for the mustang as a part number showing it's available:

NRS 482.275  License plates: Display.
1.  The license plates for a motor vehicle other than a motorcycle, moped or motor vehicle being transported by a licensed vehicle transporter must be attached thereto, one in the rear and, except as otherwise provided in subsection 2, one in the front.
2.  If the motor vehicle was not manufactured to include a bracket, device or other contrivance to display and secure a front license plate, and if the manufacturer of the motor vehicle provided no other means or method by which a front license plate may be displayed upon and secured to the motor vehicle:
(a) One license plate must be attached to the motor vehicle in the rear; and
(b) The other license plate may, at the option of the owner of the vehicle, be attached to the motor vehicle in the front.

all that said, after reading this morning, I counted cars while waiting for the light at boulder/nellis and stopped after 35 without front plates :)

IL here, don’t run a front plate on my Mustang. Most dealers don’t even drill the front bumper on new performance cars/exotics/etc. unless specifically asked by a customer. They’ll nail you for it if you get nabbed for something else, but otherwise they have bigger fish to fry.

When I got my car in NY, the dealer asked if they wanted me to drill the plates in but recommended not to. It is the law in NY to have front plates. I opted to go the Sto n Sho route. I religiously would take it off and on, but recently it sits in my trunk.

I was living in Houston at the time, but was pulled over in Rosenberg. So that tracks.

Anyways, I live in TX and don't think I've been pulled over for it specifically, but I have received a citation for it when being pulled over for something else.
he's 100% correct.
also, i just got a front plate ticket yesterday for my truck.
i will affix it, take a picture, show the judge, and pay 10 bucks.
then remove it.

its dumb and dumb things should be resisted. this is my little protest.
