So I am just curious what everyone's thoughts on front plates are. I live in NY but brought back my car from Florida. Thankfully there wasnt anything drilled in the bumper to mount the front plates. I am so grateful.

I have seen some kits (which are basically L brackets) to mount plates from underneath i front lip (I think).

I haven't had an issue getting pulled over or tickets as the cops where I live seem to be ok with it as long as your not driving like an ass. Obviously the highway patrol, sheriff's, locals are all different, but I'm curious what everyone's experience has been?

There are a couple guys at work that drive suburau's , and a couple focuses that have gotten nailed for plates.

So I guess I'm just curious what everyone's experience has been?

I’m in Connecticut and they require a front plate. I don’t run front plates on any of my cars and have never been stopped for it. Good friend of mine, retired State Police doesn’t run any front plates either.

there's more cars in sin city without ANY registration than those without front plates :) I see at least 3 or 4 on my 7 mile commute to work each day. when you renew your registration, they only send you 1 tag so they already know what most are doing.

most of my life was in Idaho where they are required. city/county cops could care less but if a state cop saw ya, it was $55 every time. we all knew "pay to play".

Get a sto-n-sho

I live in MA and nobody gets pulled for front plates alone here, if you get stopped for something else they'll tack it on though. I know a few people that have no front plates.

The NY state police like to pull us Massholes over because they know we likely can't justify showing up to the hearing (bastards). Idk how they treat locals, YMMY.

Never had an issue on any vehicle since 2010.
I didn't have a front plate on my Focus ST and got pulled over and ticketed for it in TX. I guess it just depends on if the cop is bored or not.

I m in a non front state now, thank God. I did live upstate NY (Adirondacks) and on my weekend toy I ran no front plate . Never had an issue. But it s easy to get a ticket because it s obvious and illegal. If it is a daily driver, I d put the plate on one way or the other. If not, roll the dice, I believe the ticket is no points, just an equipment violation.

Oh for sure. The Louisiana folks don't require a front plate, and I am in Houston. I also don't have the registration sticker in the window, and I think they just assume I am from LA if they see vehicles from the front.

What is more annoying in Texas, I did get pulled over once without my reg sticker. Cop walked up, had already run my plate, and was on his way back to his truck, when he turned around and said he forgot to scan my reg sticker. Then he saw it wasn't there, and said no worries, he already ran my plates and knew I had insurance. So that sticker is a joke, and I just chalked it up to something similar to you. Don't drive crazy, and don't catch an officer having a bad day.

Im of the mindset of not attracting negative Police attention to my car. Windows arent tinted, front plate at all times, No headers or aftermarket cats, dont need to get state-reffed.
Its a matter of running into the wrong cop on the wrong day... they can ruin you, break the law while doing it, and the system will back them, not you.
So mount that front plate and dont give them an excuse.

Ive had the sto-n-show, Ive had the Craigs, the Sly Bracket is by far the winner.

The sto n sho attatches under your splitter, so if your car is low, like mine, the plate will get mangled anytime your splitter scrapes or gets close to scraping. Had to replace my front plate eventually cuz it got destroyed.
AND, it ended up damaging my splitter as well, where it was mounted.

The Craigs was better, but the 3M adhesive eventually failed after a second hot NY summer. I used 3M prep promoter when attaching the bracket to my front end, which held up fine... ironiclly enough, the adhesion that failed was on the other side... So the bracket and plate fell off, but the adhesive strip was still on my car. The side adhered to the bracket by the manufacturer failed.

The Sly Bracket is the best. No drilling, no adhesive... it attaches to my lower grill. I dont have to worry about scraping, dont have to worry about it falling off... Its secure and I have peace of mind... The ony thing I have to worry about now is will I have to replace it eventually if it discolors... Huge peace of mind not having to worry about it anymore

You can also purchase license plate mounts that use the tow hook location. No drilling, and can be removed easily

I'm in N.Y. where they require a front plate.

I've never had one on my:
2016 GT
2022 VW GTI
Wife's 2022 Tesla 3

Cops just don't care about it.

Anyways, I live in TX and don't think I've been pulled over for it specifically, but I have received a citation for it when being pulled over for something else.

This is always how I’ve heard it go, it’s just something else for them to give you when you get nabbed for speeding.

Its funny; I always have a front plate on my car.
I see people without the front; nothing seems to ever happen to them.

When my Craig's bracket fell off, I drove around town for like 3 days with no front before I realized it... Nothing.

When I got my Mach 1 front end put on; picked it up from the body shop, drove home, parked, went inside, had a snack, came out with my new bracket and tools to install it - parked there for 20 minutes... had a ticket for no front plate... you can't make this shit up.
