Hit the deer with the right from corner and the deer spun around and slapped the side of the car, crushing in the door.
The body shop finally got the door in this week, I don't know why it took so long to get it? I called the local dealer, which is the one I bought the car from, they said 2 days to get a door. The body shop said it would be ready on Monday which probably means Wednesday, if I don't find anything wrong when I go to pick it up. This whole thing just sucks!
I actually went by the dealer yesterday and looked at a 2015 Roush stage 2 on the lot, My luck I would hit a deer with it the day after I got it, if I were to get a wild hair a trade for it. :headbonk:

Just be glad it was one of our small white tails and not those huge monsters they grow up north!
Funny hunting story y'all might appreciate....
I work with a Native American (I use to call him a Mexican until I saw his sheetrock work :D ) that always bragged about his great hunting skills and how he faces his own food and looks it in the eye before taking its life, not picking up a pre-wrapped hunk of meat with no idea where it came from on the animal.
We went hunting together a few times in the past with no luck, but one trip stands out. We were across the farm from each other so we could not see what the other was watching/doing. About dusk I heard his gun go off.
I sat still until legal time was up and headed his way. When I got there I was dumbfounded as to what I saw.
His deer was the size of a medium sized dog. Needless to say, I teased him about being off the reservation now and he didn't need to target dogs anymore.

But shit got real when we went to field dress and clean it. Keep in mind, it was probably 25 degrees that evening. I looked over and here was this wide eyed indian that had no idea where to start with dressing out this animal.
"Give it to me..." I stepped up and went at it with my Kershaw and things were going along smoothly. Until I looked over at him and noticed he was a little green around the gills and holding his mouth as he was gagging. It might have been the "bloodsicle" that formed on my knife blade due to the temps.
That day was when I learned my buddy was full of shit!

This reminds me of a time my car got its first surprise handling test when I had to swerve at 60 mph to avoid hitting a suicidal hog one night while driving to visit my parents about an hour south of Houston.
That whole area is woods and fields that's freakin lousy with deer, hogs AND cows!
After seeing this and what hitting a deer can do to these cars, I don't even want to know what would've happened if I'd hit that hog. Those fuckers can get huge and this one was no exception so probably would've totaled the car since those things can take one helluva beating, even from vehicles :frusty:

Sorry about your car...

Deer overrun the island - I remember back in the 90's when there was a culling in HHP and a lot of people were up in arms over it. I can only imagine what it's like now if that isn't still being done regularly.

I work for HHI Fire Rescue, Senior Mechanic, the Maintenance shop is over by the airport. Ive got about 7 deer at the pond behind the shop every night with a 4 point hanging out with them. They don't pay any attention to me or the trucks, look at me keep on eating. A lot of people in the plantations bitch about them eating all the flowers and plants around there houses.

Stoli, I guess you have to be careful to not hit any giant Pythons!

I still have not got my car back from the F@#$ing body shop. They have not called me one time the whole time they have had it, I have to call them, everytime they give me a day it should be ready, it's not. I went by last Wednesday, because they said should be ready the day before, I finally saw it. I was not happy, the interior was full of sanding dust where they did not cover the door opening while they had the door off to replace it and a lot other things that really pissed me off.
I'm sorry if there is anyone on the forum that works at/or owns a body shop or insurance company, don't want to offend you.
I HATE F$#@ING DEALING INSURANCE COMPANIES AND BODY SHOPS!
Thats just my opinion and I could be wrong.

Sorry about your car! Hopefully it will be right when you get it back -- sucks being without it, but if it were mine, I'd be happier after the ordeal if they get it right than if they dash it off too quickly, sacrificing the quality of repair. What's crappy is that they don't contact you at all -- that's just bad service -- they should at least call to say they haven't forgotten about you...

I made it very clear when I left it, I wanted to look like it never happened or I would not accept it. It just pisses me off when they won't contact you and tell we are behind or waiting on parts or what ever the hell excuse they come up with. I have been catching rides with everyone I can for a month now. I bet if I had been in a rental paid by the insurance company this whole time it would not have taken so long. I know parts availibility was not the hold up, I called the local ford dealer the day before I took the car to the bodyshop and the door and headlamp was available.

Go get it and have it towed to another shop. Total BS on the bodyshops part. Nothing but lazy ass bodymen to not tape up the door opening. Is the owner of the shop there as one of the working employees? Or is it someone out of the picture?

My car was in the shop for 69 days and after all that the work was so bad that insurance had me take it somewhere else to be completely redone...it's been in the other shop going on 8 days and counting, hoping to get it back Friday...

Gordie, sorry about your car, I'm afraid I might end up in the same situation.
Scott, the owner is the one who took me back in the shop to see it.
The next day after seeing my car I wrote a nasty gram (email) to the insurance company district manager explaining what was going on and that I was pissed, I was not nice in the email toward the body shop and insurance adjuster. If it is not ready Friday and in perfect repair I will send the info and emails to the State Insurance Commissioner. They don't want that, the insurance company highly recommended this body shop. After dropping the car off at the body shop I find out the insurance company adjuster has his office at this body shop, that along with there recommendation is showing favoritism, they give the insurance company office space and they send business to the body shop. I won't say who the insurance company is, Damn Lizard!

I hydroplanes into a curb and busted the right rear suspension. They replaced everything in the rear except the axle. Side curtain air bags went off also. This happened on July 8th, I got my car back September 12th...no body damage at all. Waited for parts 90% of the time. I would call my dealer and ask for the parts that the shop was waiting for and I would get told they are on back order. So it does happen. Went the entire summer without my car.
