Black is as bad for race cars as road cars. Styling is hidden by a paint color that closely matches any shadows and creates maximum reflections that distract from or obscure shapes.

I remember when Ferrari 1st went matte red. Thought is was ridiculous. Guess not!

Can take or leave the matte look. But wouldn't own a matte car. Much easier to maintain an even gloss than an even matte. Learned that with the Syclone I bought new in '91. It came with matte cladding. I had that all repainted gloss.

And yes, even I will buy a black vehicle if its the only color made AND it's the ultimate sleeper after adding removable pool service signage.

Remember when those came out, buddy bought one new. Really cool truck. I like the matte on the race cars, not so much on street stuff. Serious pain to maintain.

Bought mine new after over a year of negotiation.

Attempted to order one months before the first ones were built. The best offer from a local dealer was $5k ADM. I countered with MSRP and walked out. Then the sales manager decided to corner the AZ market by buying other dealer's allocations. But other than 1st on the blockers, mostly street racers bought them and without computers, these things lost a LOT of their punch in central AZ heat. They had rows of them but anyone wanting to be rowdy all year passed.

Wasn't long before I got a call accepting my MSRP offer. I said ship has sailed, now I'll pay 2k under. Hang up. Rinse repeat. Every month or so they would call to accept my prior offer and I would tell them my latest offer. LoL, I really didn't even want it that much anymore.

I drove by that dealer almost a year after they got their first. One on the lot had a build date almost a year before. So, I sent a letter (actually a card) to the owner saying no hard feelings about never closing a deal and would like to attend the birthday party for <vin>.

Got a call back where they asked how much I would pay and we agreed. Walked in and a hungry salesman tells me if I buy today, he will split what ever bonus he gets. Seems GMC had some kind of wheel of fortune thing for salespeople. I said why not since I was willing to buy without. Damned if he didn't spin the jackpot and I got it for thousands more off.

I don’t get this stuff. Leave your politics at home and don’t take it to the track. Think they’d give up there seat, points, and paycheck for the races they want to protest. I doubt there conviction runs that deep. It’s disingenuous for the likes of Hamilton and Vettel to be doing this stuff at that stage in there careers. There already set and not really putting anything on the line.

Well it looks like the stewards will have something else to screwup.

In general terms I do not disagree with you. Let's stick to racing at least on race weekends. My issue is with the FIA trying to appease those counties which have terrible human rights issues by trying to shut the drivers mouths. That's not cool either.

BTW, it's not just Lewis and Seb. Others have spoken out about this as well. People do not like being told what they can and cannot say. That I'm sure you would agree with.

We’re on the same page. If the FIA is so concerned then don’t run at the tracks you have an issue with there ways. But then again lets be honest, there not going to give up the revenue. I know Seb and Ham aren’t the only ones, just the most prominent. To be fair I have clients at times I know we don’t agree on things, but I’m there to do a job and not express my unasked opinions. I don’t go in to someones home or business and start that kind of thing nor would I allow someone in my home or business doing the same. If they want to do it outside of there F1 commitments, have at it.
