BS. It’s not spin or click bait, well all this stuff is technically click bait. Hamilton said it. Wolff addressed it. He should have never bad mouthed the team on any level. No driver should.

This was nothing more than a clickbait article. Lewis made it clear after the race and afterwards that, “we” as the team had work to do. Just a media BS story.

Not BS. The quote was taken from something Lewis said last year. They are making it sound like this years car. And we all know last years car was shit so no need to rehash it.

“Last year, there were things I told them,” Hamilton told the BBC. “I said the issues that are with the car. I’ve driven so many cars in my life so I know what a car needs, I know what a car doesn’t need. I think it’s really about accountability.

Yes, there is no doubt he said what he said. Every driver who is unhappy with his would say the same thing. Max has, Fernando has, Seb has & Michael has.

But Lewis also said this,

"We've got to look into the balance through the corners, look at all the weak points and just huddle up as a team, that's what we do.

"We're still multi-World Champions, it's just they haven’t got it right this time, they didn’t get it right last year, but that doesn’t mean we can’t get it right moving forwards.”

Lewis is a team player, always has been. It’s tough on any athlete when the winning stops and malaise sets in. As a team I believe they will turn it around.

Team player can mean different things.

He is a great driver BUT he is a driver. He is not an aerodynamicist, or mechanical engineer, or expert in any other discipline required to build a winning F1 car.

It's ridiculous to think that Lewis would have done a better job than the pros did. He thinks the car should be faster. Since it isn't, he believes that can only be because they didn't listen hard enough to his demand to make the car much better.

Fortunately, Toto knows it's a bad idea to let a driver design a car.

OK, So I'm going to backtrack here. This comment was definitely made in frustration but Lewis should have been more considerate with his words. I'm sure that there are team members who didn't take kindly to this.

https://www.motorsport.com/f1/news/...amid-hamiltons-didnt-listen-remarks/10441623/

After the race Lewis Hamilton told BBC 5 Live that the team 'didn't' listen' to his input on the 2023 car, saying: "Last year, there were things I told them, I said the issues that are with the car.

"I've driven so many cars in my life, so I know what a car needs, I know what a car doesn't need. And I think it's really about accountability.

"It's about owning up and saying: 'Yeah, you know what? We didn't listen to you. It's not where it used to be and we've got to work.'"

No matter how good a car looks on paper only the driver can tell you whether or not you've succeeded. Some drivers are better at providing feedback than others (some drivers are also engineers). And only someone behind the wheel can tell the aerodynamicist, mechanical engineer, or expert in any other discipline required to build a winning F1 car, what a car needs if it is not 100% perfect. Don't many of us on here continually tell Ford what they screwed up?

Hello; Strikes me that Lewis is become like an aging movie star who misses a former front stage glory and seeks publicity any way they can. Lewis was in a 5th or 6th place car last year and looks, so far, to be a bit further back this year. No wins last year and no real prospects, so far, of a win this year. I guess the old saw that any publicity is good publicity still holds.

Funny how the "greatest driver in the world" cant make the car do better. My contention has been and continues to be the cars are the stars. Look at how Alonzo is doing so much better so far this year. I figure he was always a decent driver, but needed a competitive car. Strange how Lewis is getting more print in this thread than anyone else so far.

Still have the nose ring image in my head. Wish i could make a meme.

I'm going to disagree with the bolded part of your statement.

All of these drivers are the best in the world. Given their level of expertise and experience (most have been driving since single digit age) their input to the engineers is massive in helping to make the car the best it can be in THEIR hands. Every driver has preferences to how a car performs and it is up to the engineers to make it perform the way the DRIVER wants it to. Obviously the grip around the circuit is number one and they all want more of this. However drivers also tend to want more under/over steer amid several other small preferences the engineers make happen.

Just look at Ricciardo and how the McLaren did not suit his style like the RB did.

Remember there are many reasons why the drivers are the highest paid employees...and it is not all about their on track performance.

Hello; Been following NASCAR since the late 1950's. Some drivers were very good at helping set up the cars especially back in the bias tire days. Others were only able to tell the crew chiefs what the cars were doing and left the setup to the crew chief & team. Among the best were drivers who also worked on and built the cars.
I may not know of Lewis getting his hands greasy while working on the cars he drives or that he sits in with the engineers for hours on end. If he actually does such things his status will be elevated in my eyes. I have figured he just tells them what he wants the car to do better. Am I wrong??
