I just received a message on FordPass, offering free pickup and delivery of my car for its next service visit.

First thought: Great! My wife wouldn't need to make the 30 mile roundtrip to the dealership twice!

Second thought: I'd be letting the lowest paid employee in the service department drive my 6MT GT the 30 miles (22 of them on the interstate) of the roundtrip to the dealership.

I'm leaning "Pass".

I took my ‘21 6MT in for the first oil change and annual inspection a week ago. Service writer went to move the car, and sat there 5 minutes trying to figure out how to put it in reverse. Then proceeded to take off forward while looking over her shoulder. Almost hit the Navigator in front.

Hard pass

This is a great service for someone that doesn't have time to drive to the service department, but I'll likely never use it for my Mustang. If I had an old Taurus or something maybe.

I'm a little curious to know what Ford would do in the event of an accident.

I saw that available service too - no way I'd ever let them come and pick up my vehicle to drive it all the way in to do service.

Drive it for diagnosing issues, sure. Drive it just to drive it back and forth to change the oil? Ah, nope.

So do you have to tip the driver too in addition to the service bill? LOL...

I'd like to see some dash cam footage of these so called "free" pick up and drive your vehicle to/from service visits...

My car has front and rear dashcams. My curiosity is not that great!

I might be amiable to this if they flat bedded the car using my towing company (My dealer uses them too).

My wife uses this for her Lincoln. She prefers that they come get her car and leave the loaner which is part of the "Lincoln experience". I used to get a loaner even when taking the Mustang in because we own a Lincoln, but we moved and that dealer is too far away now.

To be fair, I know how to drive a stick and, granted this was a couple years ago now, did not realize they started putting reverse lockout on cars so I had to grab someone to show me cause I wasn't figuring out hot to get it into reverse with the lockout. Since then, obviously, no issues getting anything into reverse with lockout.

I'm thinking me and my lawyer are OK with this.

The dealer is insured if they wreck your car.
That cracks me up... dealer insurance! Lol

I posted a thread a month ago where one employee accidentally ran over another employee and the OWNER OF THE CAR was sued!

So if you want to allow the dealer to drive your car so be it. I can see it now... lowest paid car jockey crosses median on the interstate at a high rate of speed killing people in an oncoming vehicle... OWNER GETS SUED...

Nope. The less any time any dealer has driving MY vehicle the better.

YMMV!
