So, I just had my 2022 GT/CS in for service, twice, for the same evaporative emission system SES that popped up (twice). Fingers crossed that they fixed it this time.

However, they cleared my vehicle from FordPass for some reason, and now that I've reconnected the SES from July 4 is still showing. There's no SES in the vehicle itself.

Any ideas on how to clear this out from FordPass? I know many of you don't like the app for a variety of reasons, but I kind of like using it. Now I've got a notification that won't go away.

FordPass has to update with a data download from the car. Does it accurately show the vehicles mileage/location/etc? Mine still shows the data from when I unplugged it so there is no limit to how long it will show old data.

Thanks for the quick response! It shows the correct mileage and distance to empty.

But, I just noticed something weird. When I put the car in accessory mode, I see the SES light flashing and the battery indicator is on. But when I start the car, both go away.

So now I'm not sure what's going on.

I think the battery indicator is always on if in acc mode and not running. Most other cars do. I don't know what trips the SES warning, that seems arbitrary to each manufacturer or even model but I'm guessing it is showing a stored code that remains uncleared if the original condition has been fixed. If you had an active evap problem, you'd think it would trip a CEL like an evap valve does.

Thanks. It's weird that it shows in accessory mode and not when started though, right?

Okay, so, I drove the car a bit and filled it up with gas (it was on empty in 100 deg F weather). When I got home the SES notification had cleared in FordPass and the notification on the dash stays illuminated until the engine starts. Then it goes away.

I think I'm good.

Unplug the TCU in the left side of the trunk or remove the fuse labeled modem. There are no side effects, you can verify checking your FordPass to make sure it doesn't update.

If you want dm me or post your vin and I will check what its showing with my dealer access.

Not too familiar with the ford pass app since my personal car cant connect with it. But my dealer tools will show me what codes the car is throwing and I can see if there is an actual code stored that is causing the notification.

Thanks, but this did resolve itself. I filled up the car, went for a short drive, rebooted my phone, and by the time I got home the notification in FordPass was gone.

Thank you. My car is a 2023 and the modem was not installed because Ford didn’t have any, many late 22’s and I think all 23’s don’t have it. My Ford pass still works, so still the same procedure I’m assuming?
Also, the only thing I will lose is the ability to use Ford Pass, correct and it will keep big brother from being able to see real time data on what I am doing?
Thanks in advance for the help, much appreciated.

That warning was for cars that had 4G internet connectivity which the Mustang didn't have an option for. Modem is a very generic term for devices within different communication spectrums. You still have one, that's how FordPass works. My '22 has one.

Yes, disconnecting it will only disconnect FordPass. No other unintended consequences beyond telling the man to mind his own business.
