Yeah. Back in 1990 I had one of the fastest gt's around. Just broke into the 13's. Now this eco does the same or better stock. For about 20 years I raced a lot of roadracing bikes and asphalt kart racing. I always liked being the underdog. I never worried about my street cars too much while racing. That ship has sailed so now all I have is "bench" racing. I kept telling myself I'm gonna get a gt when getting out of racing. But last model year was too retro for me. Took me too close back to the feel of my old hopped up 82 gt. So I don't regret not spending the 10 more on the gt last year but still would look forward to polishing up the car and feeling that the car really is pretty nasty if it were a gt. Even though I really don't drive that sporty on the street. I used to build all my own motors but I don't have the guts or ambition to open this motor up and put rods and pistons in it but it would be fun to tune then.

I have a friend who is looking at a Z06. He currently has a 2015 vette that is tuned and already almost undriveable. It's just a disease... I used to race AMA Superbike and after a few tracks like Daytona, Road Atl, etc. driving fast on the street just didn't interest me anymore. I'll go out riding some of my vintage bike (I like old 2-strokes) but I have zero desire for any of the new stuff like R-1's, GSXR's, etc.

When Leno had both a GT and an EB on loan from Ford, he commented that he found himself driving the EB more. It is a more balanced car. I drove the GT and EB side by side before I bought, and liked the handling on the EB much better. In reality, 300 HP is the magic number for "enough".

After finally getting my car put back together correctly after dealer installed tune I can confirm what others have already reported. Car pulls so smooth and much more refined now. Auto shifts smoothly and on point. Exhaust noise is much smoother/quieter without the fake noise being pumped in. Doing some testing early last Saturday morning on an uphill on ramp, I was completely surprised to see I was at 105mph when I hit the merge point. Just didn't feel like it. I haven't really played with the other drive modes yet, looking forward to that this weekend.

I bought this tune because I wanted something safe and CA smog compliant, something that added a touch more power and refinement. Something that wouldn't effect mileage/range much, something that would allow me to stand out from all the rental verts out of SFO. I think this tune might just do it.

The way I explain the car to others is i want a gt when I'm talking are thinking of the car. But When I'm driving I really am solidly content.

That's pretty much how it is with me. I'll sit here and wish I'd gotten a GT or a Challenger 6.4L (you have to remember I'm at 6000 feet, so the V8's make about 20% less power) until I get in my car to drive and all that goes away. My only 'complaint' is that there's not quite enough HP in the EB for what I want. A tune will fix that.

Now that I've gotten a nice catback setup on my car, I'm happy with the sound. It's not a V8, but it's not a fart can 4 cylinder, either. The DV+ made a nice little difference in driving feel and the intercooler upgrade will get me through the summer without worrying about heatsoak. I'll probably move back to V8's for that sweet, sweet exhaust note when I get my next pony car several years from now, but for now I'm happy with the EB and will be even happier after I get tuned.

Impressive with the ama Superbike racing. I just did CCS expert 600 stuff. Same tracks you mention. Now I'm just looking for a machine to be passionate about instead of the racing itself. I just might need to tinker with this myself more to make it mine a little. Car came with an inter cooler so the Ford tune would benefit from this too. I will admit I would not want to give up much handling of the eco for the v8. Always wondered what the difference in feel really is. Also with v8 if anything did happen out of warranty it is much more expensive even for a used coyote motor. With my first kid college coming up I'll probably keep this for a couple years and see what those costs are like. That was my main reason for getting this over my high maintenance cost audi TTS in the first place.

I think I agree with the others though that having a 15 MPG 420 hp daily driver is a bit much. I think I would get the RS or even a Evo before getting the v8 RWD car. Then again, I live in NJ where 93 is everywhere, winter can sometimes suck, and you are lucky to do the speed limit during rush hours. If I had a two car garage, and ability to pay 2 cars on my insurance, I wouldn't mind the GT for a week end car.

Glad you enjoy the tune as much as we do. I wouldn't classify 100 HP+ at 6k RPM and 70 lbs/tq at 2500 RPM as little though. This tune does turn the car into something else entirely. I think the aftermarket tuners like unleashed, tune+, lund, and livernois take it to its limits and beyond.

I would daily drive a GT500 or Hellcat Challenger if my wife would let me have one. :D There's no such thing as too much power. :headbang:

You would still need the wife to bail you out! The airaid is installed and the acceleration feels better particularly above 3500 Rpms. I would suggest making sure you install the intake included with the tune. I really think this tune runs optimally with more airflow.

Going on 6 hours at the dealer now for the tune install, it keeps rebooting the install and does not complete... now I want the GT

Wow. Did not have that issue. Using your own laptop? Could be it did not load onto the PC right. I would reinstall the program entirely

Im at a FP dealer too, so it finally went through.. FP told them to move the car, and that apparently did the trick, no clue why or how but it finally went through. Im not sure what setup they are using since im in a waiting room...maybe they are using a Palm Pre or something

I have been following this thread closely, and I am almost ready to pull the trigger. I told myself I would drive the car a year or so before doing any significant engine performance upgrades, and I am unwilling to take a risk on the warranty, so this is the tune for me. I have a few questions if anyone would like to clarify for me.
1. CAI. I currently have the Airaid cai with a powder coated trim piece on top. I am pleased with appearance and sound and would like to keep in use if possible. I have read where most are unhappy with the included cai that comes with the tune kit but am unclear as to why exactly. Is it the way that it fits (or doesn't fit)? If I install it initially, can I put my Airaid back on and if so do I need to swap them whenever it goes in for service?

2. Install. I would prefer to order the kit online for best price and do as much of the install as I am allowed to do. What can I expect to pay a dealership to install program and and do just enough to furnish sufficient paperwork for warranty. I know this could be a broad amount but ballpark. I am in good with my local Goodyear shop and they have ASE certified mechanics. What would they need to document on the workorder receipt?

I already have aftermarket intercooler installed.

Thanks in advance for any input.

1) Its the fitment and looks that are the issue. FP just gave us the GT350 airbox. It wont fit in the ecoboost, so it needs to be cut in order to fit. Its not an unknown issue, the directions tell u how to cut it. But some of us think we shouldn't have to do that. We are paying $500 for the combo, we shouldn't have to cut anything. From a performance point of view, another intake will have no affect other than looks and sound. So your one u have will be fine. As for warranty purposes, some FP reps say u need their CAI to retain warranty, and others say u can install another and still retain the warranty. U just have to find the right rep to get it in writing just in case something goes wrong if u go that route. The GT350 CAI doesn't sound bad, but IMO it does not sound as good as the other aftermarket CAI's.
2) U can expect to pay anywhere from $200-$300 depending on the shop. If its any higher, find another shop. Most of us paid somewhere in that ball park, some have even done the work themselves and had the shop write off on the work. As for what to email FP regarding registering for warranty, search my name in this thread. I had a list of the items I sent them to register successfully.
