Me too! It's just a small snap-on piece too. I'd also like to have an intake tube that isn't too long.Funny, the stock unit has more area for air intake. If they do change the cold air intake then I would want to exchange mine for the newer one.
It is fine... a couple of people made the switch from custom tunes to the FP tune.Appreciate the heads up but I'm in no rush and am perfectly content with cjponyparts especially with the forum discount code and free shipping it's a good price.
After driving around on stock tune for a few days now I've noticed the car holds boost it seems longer and revs don't drop between shifts like they did with the 93 tune I previously had. My fault for not data logging. I'm sure this Ford performance tune will be perfectly fine.
I wouldn't go to a dealership unless you just really don't mind spending way too much for the install. If you are comfortable installing the intake yourself, I think most shops with an ASE certified tech will agree to letting you do the intake install and they do the tune and only charge you 1 hour. If you're not comfortable with that and really want to take it to a dealer, there's a Ford Performance dealer in NoVA. I can't remember which one, I think it's in Fairfax.Just got my FP tune kit. For you noVA folks, what dealership did you go to for the install?
Yeah, was just seeing if anybody had theirs done through a dealership. Just called Excessive Motorsports here in Manassas to see if we can make a deal. I can install the intake myself but will to see if they'd let me. Thanks.I wouldn't go to a dealership unless you just really don't mind spending way too much for the install. I am not sure who mentioned it, but he did the intake himself and let the dealer charge one hour for the programming, I think that would be the ideal way to go. It always looks best having papers from a Ford dealership.I wouldn't go to a dealership unless you just really don't mind spending way too much for the install. Having papers from a Ford dealership means nothing in this case. It is Ford Performance that registers the warranty and they say the install can be done by any ASE certified technician. I submitted the invoice from a shop that I use frequently and FP registered the warranty with no questions.I am not sure who mentioned it, but he did the intake himself and let the dealer charge one hour for the programming, I think that would be the ideal way to go. There are 2 separate warranties. The warranty you have from Ford when you bought your car remains in tact. You would also have a warranty from Ford Performance for 3/36. If you had a problem with your car, Ford would first determine if they thought it was because of the tune. If it was, they'd still do the work but FP would be paying the dealer for the work instead of Ford proper.Trying to get clarification on the warranty. Does the entire drivetrain warranty automatically default to the FP warranty for everything, or only if an issue arises and is determined to be due to the tune?
Please save this reply lol everyone literally asks the same questions about the warranty. The search bar does wonders as does actually reading the FP warranty...There are 2 separate warranties. Even after the 3/36, your warranty is still there, nobody takes that away. However that's where it will get real tricky. It is very easy to say most things could have been caused by the tune, if for no other reason than additional stress. This is where having a good relationship with your dealer is nice. They heavily influence whether or not the work is done under warranty but in the end, it's Ford's decision since they will be the one paying, not the dealer.
SO VERY TRUE! Especially the part about reading the warranty for yourself, both the Ford Performance warranty and your factory Ford warranty. I've had discussions with the shop foreman at the dealership and even he was wrong on the warranty. The Service Manager was a different story though, he knew it very well. My lesson was never discuss warranty questions with anyone but the Service Manager. Please save this reply lol everyone literally asks the same questions about the warranty. That is why I said CLARIFICATION! I have followed this thread from the beginning, and re-read most parts a few times. Now that I am getting close to doing this I wanted to hear what the current thoughts were. Please save this reply lol everyone literally asks the same questions about the warranty.
