Ford Racing ProCal Tune

Howdy -

I just had the FPT stage 1 installed last Friday from a Ford performance dealership. They did not tell me anything about the ProCal software or how to obtain it. I mean for all I know they could be lying about the tune as the car seems sluggish TBH.

I also had a MBRP exhaust installed at the same time, so I do not know if this may be a learning for ECU as well.

Does anyone know how I obtain the ProCal software? I see the tech registered an account for me on FP website but I see no way of downloading software or any thing related to the tune.

It is sluggish for the first few days as it learns your octane. There is an option to turn this off in ProCal.

The software is free to download. They should have given you a copy of your original tune file in case you need to revert back.

No original. Just the usb cord. Where is the software located?

Pretty sure you need to register, then it is available to download. Can't quite remember as I've had it for a few years...

Definitely get a copy of your config file. That way you have the option of reverting to stock if required, say if a tech is being a prick when you are trying to get warranty work. Ask me how I know...

Thanks. Can I use the usb connector to read CEL codes and clear them?

I just down loaded the update to the ProCal software. When you log into your account on the FP site it will show your voucher number, VIN and a link for down loading the software.

The dongle connected to the OBD port and to your computer running the ProCal software will allow you to read DTC and clear them

245 HP stock, and the FP tune increased to 280hp/330tq. Skip to 8:28 . So that's actually 35HP and 80 lb tq peek. All he has is the Pack and exhaust. An intercooler could likely add another 15-20 hp.

How do you exactly turn this off in the tune? How do you turn this on? Which screen and exact setting name is it?

The reason I ask is because I have a station with E85 around the corner. I'm curious if the tune will advance more time if I know for a fact I have the octane learning turned on.

I dont think u can turn it off. It has that learning period in order to optimize the tune. This is probably one of the reasons why it is a safer tune, it has some adaptability to it. The tune is only rated for 91-93 octane, it is not meant for any other octane, regardless of any octane learning.

Correct, octane adjust is there in case you get a tank of crap fuel. It has nothing to do with the learning process of the tune. The OEM calibration goes through a learning process as well. It is just how the ecoboost cars work.

That's just peak. The entire curve increases from 2200RPM to 6800RPM and it no longer falls flat on its face after 4800RPM. You're talking over a 100HP improvement at the 6000RPM mark and I don't doubt with a larger intercooler it's more like 120+ WHP. The throttle response is also increased immensely and the turbo spools up quick.

35 WHP at peak is actually a lot for a canned tune - and you won't get much more than that at least safely or reliably without a bigger intercooler from a pro-tune.

If you want to play it safe, then get the FP tune + IC, it does the job. Its not like a pro tune will make the car 10x faster, just a little and at that point its just bragging rights. Unless you plan on going e30, downpipe, big turbo, theres no point of a pro tune

Ford does not make any sort of intercooler upgrade though right? It’s such an important system on on a turbo isn’t anyone worried about ford denying warranty claims because it was swapped with aftermarket?

Any aftermarket IC from a reputable company will do nothing but improve charge temps. Its held on by 2 hoses, now if you installed the hose clamp to loosely and it popped off, causing turbo damage from more use (lets be honest, you can hear that hose pop off, its loud, so it is easy to catch and fix) and ford sees it, then you are SOL. Assuming its installed correctly, ford trying to blame a failure because of colder air doesnt make sense.
