This is the method i use. It is a clean and simple way to drain any and all that nasty blow by.

I just pop the lid and stuff a folded up paper towel in mine while doing something else, gets every trace out....

I use a 4mm allen wrench to remove the 4 screws and empty from the top with a syringe. For me, that's easier than removing the lines. I never get more than about 25mL of oil out of there at a time anyway.

With a syringe, how do you know the tube got to the bottom? With the internals so simple (just one screen), removing the top looks like the better way to empty it IMO too, and you can basically leave it like new again.

Got it installed yesterday, and I didn't know what the hell I was fighting with to remove that damn bolt. I used a plastic pry bar while unscrewing the bolt, and it finally came out. It's a bushing that is press-fit into that cavity. The FP one is slightly narrower, so it doesn't lodge itself into the cavity, like stock, so super simple to remove if needed. I torqued it to 84 in/lbs, which is 7 ft/lbs. Ford calls for 10Nm, which is slightly more. The other larger nut couldn't be torqued, since you cannot fit any ratchet in there. Just tightened it with a closed end wrench, probably a lot less than 7 ft/lbs, but it shouldn't go anywhere. I removed all the connectors around, to make things easier. No issues with the installation.

7ft lbs. Isn't much. I used a torque wrench but it felt inadequate so I just turned it by hand a bit tighter.

Was just browsing after servicing mine on my GT350R this weekend. I looked at the documentation again and it says to service the mesh with a solvent. I called the techline and they suggested mineral spirits. Has anyone ever cleaned the mesh, for some reason that thought never really cross my mind. Have about 20k on the car with the seperator installed. Spoke to another friend with a GT350R with 60k and he also has never cleaned the wire mesh.

Wonder what others have done.

Soaking or cleaning the screen occasionally will remove deposits and ensure good air flow. Gasoline would be another good solvent choice. Let it thoroughly air-dry afterwards.

Actualy saw a guy clean a UPR can and setup with dish detergent. Thats honestly probably the best and safest way. Good ole dawn and then properly dry.
