Luckily it wasn't the other way around or they'd have to pretty much tear out the entire dash to replace the big panel.

I have been telling this for decades now the QC guy is sleeping, and Ford is not paying attention to details. After seeing all this bullshit I m sorry but the QC guy deserved to be fired, all the assembly line should be adjusted with new tolerances, hold the line for a week and run some tests till everything is good to go!

So, you didn't notice it for a week (even after going over the car closer since it was held, I assume) but they are supposed to see it in a 20 minute qc inspection? And that's BS on them?

Qc holds are another thing that are greatly misunderstood here.

Heck yes they should have caught it! They have build sheets with part numbers.
I work for an interiors manufacturer (doors, IP, consoles) and you wouldn't believe the crap we catch from the car manufacturers if we make a mistake and one door panel out of a thousand has the incorrect color stitch on the arm rest.

With all the issues we see here constantly... It's like they don't give a crap on the assembly line. It's seriously making me reconsider getting one even though I love the car!

While it is a quality control issue the dash may or may not actually be made by Ford. If you know how assembly lines work you will know that the installer has no choice he has to install that dash. He doesn't have any option. All the parts come to him in the order of assembly and it is easier and faster for Ford to build it wrong and fix it later. Again Ford did fail to spot it before it left the finial inspection that is where it should have been caught. Interesting note anything over 1/10 of one percent error is considered a problem and needs to be addressed and the number one error in manufacturing is label errors. So those stock door panels someone mentioned were probably miss labeled and put into the queue according to their label when the installer grabbed them he has to install them he doesn't have any other source for door panels just the ones in the queue for install.

You brought up a lot of good points. Actually looking back, Chrysler did the same thing with some door panels a while back - Install wrong and fixed later.

Bingo...builders are not inspecting nor assembling the dash pieces...that dash is built as a unit somewhere else. Should have been caught there also...unless they were "short' on parts and needed that dash 'done". I understand the program economics of it...but it it going to really start costing Ford.

MY LE is 98% perfect..couple of lines not perfectly perfect but more then close enough to be within tolerance (and I'm not letting a local yahoo touch it)...Having said that as I've been shopping for a EC daily driver I'm stunned at the screw ups Ford is letting out the door. Screw ups I've physically seen, not just internet claims.

I have to assume Ford was so far behind on the 2015 cars (originally to come out in the Spring of 14 for the 50th - duh-not like April 17th is secret date) that are now putting extreme pressure on the line to just get cars out...and QC sucks under the theory of ship now and fix later.

Recently looked at a Race Red EC stang here in Sacramento...WTF? door sill plate on drivers side all banged and scraped, WRONG headrest of the drivers seat--had white stitching- while the rest of the car did not (not the upgraded interior, just the upgraded head rest.

I've been buying/collecting Modern Stangs since 1999, this is simply the worst introduction I have seen in terms of quality control. Flukes happened but not at this rate...oh spotted a beautiful Ty EB with the 50 package (no PP), pulled off the Freeway (99, south of Modesto) to see it (big accident ahead, stop and go, gave me reason to get off at the exit). Nice dealership-allowed me to kill time for the freeway to clear without constant sales hassle..oh back to the 3xYellow...wonderful car...except for a could panel lines off and a door not hung properly (without those issues I'd own that car right now but I left it there--NO way this should have cleared Ford QC unless QC is set to very low standards. If Ford's QC test is "can a dealer fix it" then Ford in gonna be in trouble in the long run.:frusty:

I've held off custom ordering my EB daily driver out of concern as to the crap that is gonna arrive. I keep thinking it will get better but we are tens of thousands of cars into the 2015 build and this stuff keeps arriving on lots.

Sleeping...LOL. Hell, it took the OP a week before he caught it. Even better, he posted pictures saying there was an error and many never caught it until it was pointed out. Man...how dare someone mess up, we are all perfect in our jobs...FIRE THIS GUY...NOW!!! As long as they are willing to fix it, what's the big deal??? OH yeah, it's not a big deal...nobody got hurt, nobody died.

OP this post wasn't a dig on you man...just some of these responses kill me...

They are fixing it. It's a super easy fix. Life goes on.

My good friend had a new Buick Skyhawk when we were in high school. It had a lovely "Oldsmobile" script on the dashboard. Might have been 1 of 1, LOL.

Coming late to the "I get it" party ... now I see it.

The light switch surround is brushed "aluminum" and the center dash bezel is "carbon fiber" ...

Ooops.

I looked at it 5 times and didn't see it.

And then I did.

Dear Ford,

Please accept my resume for QC inspector. I have to be at least as good as your guys.

Thanks.

I get what you guys are saying about Ford stepping up their QC. I too would be upset by some of the stuff I've seen on this forum if my future 2015 Mustang had some of these problems. I don't about you guys, or where you work, but where I work you have all sorts of half asses. Major work integrity/detail issues that management either doesn't notice or doesn't care. If these sort of workers exist in my work place I'm sure Ford has some also. Also many times as a worker bee your hands are tied and you can only do so much.
