One thing I am curious about with regards to the tune is lets say someone wants the safest tune possible with the Procharger kit. Wondering if it's best to just stay with the conservative ProCharger tune that comes with the kit, or get a customer dyno tune. Obviously custom tunes yield more power, but in doing so is that sacrificing some reliability beyond just the simple fact that more power will always, to some extent, decrease reliability.

I don't think so, we ran a Lund tune on our 11 Whippled mustang for 20k miles, they were hard miles. Not one single issue minus the clutch.

We had a pro dyno tune on our 12 and 13 TVS Mustangs for roughly 30+ K miles without a single engine issue. You can get a tune that provides a lot more power while still being dependable. Don't get me wrong, modding your car or throwing 200 more HP at an engine increases risk but going with a good tuner helps minimize that risk.

The things I hear is typically on those guys who push the stock engine to the utter limit then complain their engine blew, then proceed to blast the entire internet. Common sense plays a huge part in modding your car as well.

So would anyone recommend changing out the oil pump gears when pushing 600hp+ from a centri SC?

Or at least has the potential to. If someone stays out of the throttle all the time, it won't matter either way.
It sounds like the standard Procharger tune is pretty good even though a custom tune will open it up a bit more.

If I get any of the standard kits I will roll with that initially, get used to the power, and see how I like it. If, or when, I want to tweak it for more HP I will look into a custom tune.

The canned tune is typically more conservative. That doesn't necessarily mean it's more reliable or safer

Most mfg's will put a very conservative tune in to give plenty of room to grow. With our lund custom tuning, we def get more out of the cars, but still on a conservative tune.

Over the next couple of months we'll have some great offerings with the lund custom tunes.

That's one of the benefits we have with our program, we work very closely with lund and have successfully remote tuned, just through us, hundreds of coyotes. In addition , lund has done countless Shelby's, raptors, terminators, etc...

The experience and expertise there is unmatched. Lund purchased 3 in house vehicles for product testing and development along with ours and a few other select dealers to be the guinea pigs.

We always push our cars to the ragged edge to find that safe / nice / conservative tune , that is still unmatched for the customer.

There is nothing wrong going with the canned mfg tune. Procharger, vortech and Paxton, whipple, spend a lot of time to offer these packages that want to be able to just install and go on their own.

If I decide to go the custom tune route do I still purchase the standard kit and how much additional is the custom tune?

Thanks!

most of our customers have been running without them, but it's not a bad item to add.

we will be installing them when we do our 2015 kit

typically, we recommend doing just a tuner kit, and then whatever fuel upgrades you need and our custom tune to maximize the package

we really like the id1000s for growth and tuneability

Is it the same part as on the 11-14 Coyotes?

Our tunes are powerful yet, conservative.
Remember we don't know if some nice east coast 94 will be in the car.
Or junk Cali 91 octane.

So we have to account for that. However still yield great power numbers.
The numbers we advertise in our application guide, blogs, etc.
Is the number we make on our mustang dyno, with our stock tuning included in the kit.

Custom tuning for your specific fuel will yield higher power numbers.
However then its up to the customer to have the "trust" nice in that tuner.

Its not going to hurt you to get them. Much cheaper to fork over a few hundred than a bunch of money for a new block.

We've ran quite a few cars without them but understood the consequences. The install is tedious and long but can be done in your garage.

The tuning of these cars is cake walk, compared to the 2v and 4v mustangs of years ago. With active knock sensors, and widebands built into the car its a tuners dream come true. However that still leaves the chance for the few people that will turn off items such as knock sensors, and then hurt motors. .

Our tunes leave all knock sensors, and OEM functions still in place. Every safety measure that Ford has built into the ECU is still there. :)

Does anyone have dyno graphs with HP any TQ for Whipple, Procharger, and Vortech? It would be cool to be able to see what all the numbers are compare the numbers and look at the torque curves of each supercharger with the manufacturers tune.
