Mykey and Forced induction

Would like some feedback from any with fi and has one of their keyfobs setup for when they take their car to the shop.I want to set my spare keyfob so when i take my car in these guys cant take my car out and tear it up.I know u can set mph,radio volume,but what are some of u guys setting yours too.All's it takes is one tech to miss a gear or bounce of the limiter because he never drove a fast car and your car could have damage.Be nice if rpms could be limited also,anyway guys that use the mykey so that shops cant blow your shit up tell me what your settings are.

I think for RPM and such it would require a tune that limited such.

Yea i think so too,but when u do set it for a certain mph not to be exceeded,how does the ecu do that,through the cruise control?

It would be great to lock it into snow mode and limit RPM/MPH but then again, I never take my car in for service or let anyone drive it.

I ve been a mechanic 30 years,and i do everything that can be done on the car myself,but when i have a warrenty i am not paying for something that should be covered.As far as shop u can trust imo that doesnt exists.Sure their shops that have better reps then others but when u have close to a 700 hp car their is always going to be temptation,ask me how i know?,worked at a ford dealership for 9 years back in the 90's.I dont trust anyone when it comes to performance cars which is why asking about the mykey so to limit the chances of something happening to my car if taking it in to say,get the recall on the door handle fixed!!!.

Get a 3rd key fob on ebay, and program that as a MyKey set to 75-80.

And if you have a tune, set that to 4000 or whatever.

some other ideas, you could mount a dedicated rear facing dash cam, set to turn on with ignition. A mechanic could disconnect it but that would be conspicuous. In part because they would have to climb into the back seat to get at the power. Or pull a fuse tap.

Or get a GPS. The GL300 is small and inconspicuous, with 2-week battery life, that will send email for "over-speed", outside of a geo-fence, and battery low condition. Other type plugs into OBD2 port and record engine parameters and can send alert if it gets unplugged and plugged back in. The latter may pull down the car battery over time so you would have to investigate that.

True and thats most shops get caught,was thinking about getting a gopro for track use also.Good to have evidence but damage is already done by then.
