I am considering 2016 GT CS with the 401A package and am really debating if it is worth it to spend the extra $1795? Does the 12 speaker system make that much of a difference? And how about the other options in the package?

Any input would be much appreciated!

Thanks!!

The first major mod I did to mine w/401a was to upgrade the sound system. Go to a dealer and try out both as sound systems are very subjective.

I got it for the blind spot warning, which I like a lot, especially with the top up. The sound system sounds good to me, but I don't know how it compares to the base system.

I thought I wanted 401a until I saw the price and what you got.

I have the base system and as long as you use it with your Android or iPhone I think it sounds really good and I like a decent sound system. Not the best but by all means acceptable for a DD.

:lol::lol::lol:

I feel its worth it.

Yes you can upgrade the speakers for much cheaper if you went aftermarket, but fuck all that wiring and removing panels, etc etc.

I've got 401A and my girl doesn't, her cars stereo sounds like the soup cans. I'll pass.

It is hard to know how to portion out the value of the 401a sound, blind-spot, and memory seat features. But say you put $600 on the BLIS and seats, leaving $1200 for the sound system.

I could do SO much better with $1200 for a DIY sound system. There are a few build threads on this, and I hope to be a contributor myself one day, too. (I am an ex-loudspeaker design engineer.)

I built a full blown system for less than what the 401A package cost and it destroys it. But I dont have the blind spot and memory seats. Only reason I would want the 401A is for the memory seats which scoot back a few inches when you get in and out. But thats not worth $1800

^ Yeah, this guy is one of the threads I mentioned. :)

I would want memory seats so that my gf can drive it on occasion, and then I can instantly return it to my critically-adjusted position. Not worth $1800 though.

I like the memory seats with the easy entry/exit. BLIS is nice but I could live without it. Never really use the sound system, it disturbs my engine sound experience :-)

Overall, if you have the budget, go for it, but only after you put money aside for a good catback exhaust system...

i couldn't live with 400a's sound. 401a it had to be as I have no interest in upgrading speakers. days of doing that are over. 401a gets the job done and sounds much better than 400a imo, especially if tuned accurately.

if you got interest in upgrading speakers, etc and don't need blis(which I find useful) and memory seats(currently turned off because my 2 and half year old is behind me) then get 400

I'm definitely onboard with a good catback exhaust system. I also want to get dual matte black stripes nose to tail (I would get Ruby Red) so maybe I'll save on the 401A and go that route. A local dealer has a few in stock with the 401A so I can check out the package there to help me decide for sure.

Thanks to all who responded!!

I've found the BLIS quite useful considering the lack of rear-quarter side vision. I've been backing up a few times from my driveway thinking it was clear and the BLIS alerted me to oncoming traffic or people walking behind me. I definitely enjoy the memory seat function and the slide-back feature when turning your car off. That alone saves me some shoe scuffs on the door and sill panels.

The stereo system is adequate in my opinion as I enjoy a good sound. Can it be better? Sure, but so can the engine, transmission, exhaust...etc. And you see a TON of people spending money on these.

It's all in what YOU want.

I care about infotainment
I really wanted 401A but couldn't afford it. I wanted it mainly for blindspot and cross traffic alert, but after having my car for a few days now I really wish I had memory seats and a better stereo system. The stereo system has been noticeably lackluster, even compared to my old base 2009 GT.
