Thinking about mid mounting some flowmaster outlaws behind my 3inch x pipe … what are opinions on those mufflers?

Too loud in my opinion. And it gets sloppy if you ever decide to run a catless LT setup. But loud is what some people want. So it’s all personal preference

Loud and droney at 2000 rpm. Not my cup of tea

I think the general consensus is there are much better mufflers for these cars.

Now on the 4.6, those sound like angels singing.

Those will probably be as loud as glasspack mufflers.

How about Dynomax Race Bullets? I ran them on my 03 Cobra and they sounded great and throaty with no drone at all.

i was also thinking black widow, widow maker mufflers too
I’m a big fan of black widow but I’ve heard them on a gen 2 coyote and they don’t sound quite right to my ear. They sound really good on a big block pushrod but for whatever reason it doesn’t sound right with these mod motors. There’s a few people that run an h pipe with Borla s type axle backs and it sounds really good. The Borla catbacks come with an X pipe so it’s a little bit of a unique combo. Or pair the s type axle back with the Borla SwitchFire res delete. That’s a pretty cool combo too. It’s a bit pricey since it’s Borla but it’s top notch

I haven’t had flowmasters on a Mustang since 50 series in about 1992.
way better option now than to fool with flowmasters even if you want something obnoxiously loud.

Agreed! I had some in 1993 on my 89 GT and they droned like crazy.

I’m about to mount them with an X Pipe and stock manifolds. I have an ‘04 catless GTO with the SLP single side exhaust. So there’s only a few exhaust that can get louder and have more drone. I can give you a personal experience by the end of this week comparatively to that if you wish.

Flowmaster Outlaws are a fantastic option if you 1) want a deep muscle car tone and 2) leave the stock resonator in place.

100% on point.
4 valve motors will never have that true Muscle Car sound.
