Like I said, I also did some snooping around today and was told by my dealership that if the engine should grenade itself and an aftermarket filter is found, you will own it.

Keep looking for that fl2087......
They can say that but it’s the regional rep who makes that call. But it’s all speculation and “what ifs” until someone actually has a major failure and is using an aftermarket filter.

Im afraid the knee jerk reaction will be exactly as I described. I don't think its up to a regional rep, but instead Ford engineering. I think its time to seek further guidance.

Edited to add:
All it takes is an assessment from Ford and a denial of a warranty claim based upon a conclusion found after the fact. The burden would then fall on the consumer to prove the aftermarket filter didnt cause the failure.

It sucks, but that is the way it may go.

After seeing my FL-2087 50% collapsed, no track driving, but there was a couple long pulls deep into the triple digits, I will never trust a filter with a plastic insert. It’s simply a hard no, and the car can sit until an OEM filter arrives.

Whoa did I read this correctly? Are you saying the FL-2087 can partial collapse? This is the filter with the metal insert right?

Well that's not reassuring..... I swear if I don't get to drive this car as much as I want this year because of oil filters I'm going to be pissed.
On the flip side, I was able to get the AMSOil version within one week of ordering.
