Looks like this is the start for the "what's the first mod to your Mach 1?" thread. Has anyone figured out how to cut out the hood liner to let the heat out and the fresh air in? The heat extractor side (right side of hood) has only a tiny slot in the liner and the area of the CAI (left side) is covered by the liner with no opening to the vent. When I added Power Pack 2 on my 2015 GT, the CAI drew air through the driver side hood vent. The Mach 1 CAI is the same, but doesn't get air through the hood. Looking for ways to open up the engine's access to outside air.

Those are not for heat extraction as far as I know they are mainly there for pressure relief. For sure will some heat escape from there.

I believe with the new grille and aero I would just let it be, but that's just me.
It would be interesting to know their intended function and whether or not it would mess up airflow to open up the one above the CAI. Opening up the intake through the hood adds to the sound, which could help offset the supercharger like whine from the engine. (I am curious about what is spinning at that speed to create that noise.)

Hereā€™s what I did on my ā€˜19 Bullitt to provide more functionality of the driverā€™s side hood vent. Of course for maximum functionality, it would require trimming the hood itself. If I ever take my hood off, Iā€™ll do this, but for now, Iā€™m good with what Iā€™ve done. Oh, I forgot to mention that I had to remove the hood liner altogether, to provide additional clearance for my PMAS air intake system.

How do keep water out when not moving? I always had water on top of air box after washing on my 2018.

Believe it or not, I donā€™t have that problem. Iā€™ve run my car through automatic car washes three times now and several manual washes, popping the hood after each to check for water intrusion and it hasnā€™t been a problem. I thought it would be though and was prepared to try two things in the event that I did.

1. Use painterā€™s tape to cover the vent when washing.
2. Use a plastic grocery bag to,cover the air filter.

I wish there was some technical info on how airflow is affected by both the heat extractor opening and removal of the circular plates. Too bad they didn't have some sort of mesh plates, the big holes show a bit too much of the engine compartment.

Hopefully some aftermarket firm will come out with a pencil beam light that takes up about 70% of the opening and also allows additional airflow if beneficial to performance.

It's not needed for cooling. You can take them off on track days for better feeling but there's no need to mess with it in normal driving, there's no benefit to be gained.

I'm waiting for aftermarket lighting to fill those holes like the 69 Mach 1.
