First issue, car is a little jumpy.

Hey guys. So this is my first rear wheel drive car and I have noticed something the last few days. Basically whenever I am starting from a stand still and pulling out and turning the whole rear end sort of skids out all the time. Even if I am light on the gas. It makes for a rather unpleasant experience. Is something wrong? Maybe the tires? The car seems to jump around until your straighten it out and get up to speed. I have not noticed the same thing if starting from stand still and going straight.

So you're losing traction and spinning tires? If you have the PP, those tires are horrible in cold weather, you might was well have wagon wheels on it.

You have summer only tires on those 20" wheels.... Below 50 Degrees and it is like IndustryLeech said. Get some all seasons or detected winter tires and you should be fine.

Sounds like a shudder from a limited slip differential. I don't know why, but the manufacturers no longer require friction modifier in the differential, it's now formulated in the lubricant. Have you dealer take a drive with you. It may be a break-in issue or maybe they can add some modifier to the diff.

Another thing to check is tire pressure. If it is very high which seems to be common off the lot that will make the contact patch smaller.

But I am guessing like others have said summer tires.

Where did you get this info from? The owner's manual specifically states that the rear diff uses:

1) Motorcraft SAE 75W-85 Premium Synthetic Hypoid Gear Lubricant (3.2 pints)

and

2) Rear axle friction modifier - Motorcraft Additive Friction Modifier (4 ounces)

You're using summer tires... in Connecticut... in November?

No, just... no. Don't do that. Put on some winter tires or, at the very least, all-seasons.

I don't mind you criticizing my interpretation, my point wasn't so much as to what the factory put in his vehicle, or what Fords "rubber stamp" owners manuals state year after year, but to help him to find a solution for his issue. I'll reserve my final verification of what his Ecoboost requires in it's diff for the actual "factory service manual". If I take the owners manual info for exactly what it says, I would be required to put modifier in my 5.0 P.P. Torsen diff!? Read the last sentence in my comments to his request for help. It's reactions like yours that make a person wonder why in the heck post any response at all.

I hope you don't have what I experienced. Had a loose bolt. Do yourself a favor and do a vehicle health report with sync.
They had to replace 2 pieces of my suspension.

Thanks, I am assuming it's the tires then. Honestly did not know it had summer, thought they were all seasons.

It's 20 degrees here this morning and I have no issues keeping the rear tires in check. Either you're harder on the gas than you think, or something is up. The tires become hard but they don't turn to glass. Even with TC off and track mode on it takes no effort to not spin the tires. Takes no thought whatsoever.

People need to stop with this summer tire in cold weather craze, they are certainly not ideal but it's not the apocalypse if you drive on them
