Who currently has a kit for the PFI system? Unless they're tapping the ground for the DI system to activate it, I don't see how they can control the PFI system without an expensive third party controller. Hopefully you can correct me if I'm wrong.
The ones coming out now for us are made by stratified and speed Performance. You are correct the controllers can get a little expensive however stratified is looking to keep costs under $1000 it may be to your benefit to see if they can adapt it to the 2.3l. a lot of the controllers they use are very similar to WMI controllers the main reason you don’t want the extra injectors running at all times because that would make it run like crap at lower RPM's. just a thought for you guys, another option for you to think about.

Ahh it's still in prototype? We'll hafta see then. WMI is looking like it'll be the go to solution for awhile.

I think you guys should take a look into the 2.0l and how they are solving the fueling problem. This HPFP is cam driven much like the MZR engine however it is not as easy to replace the internals as it was for them and even if you do the bump in fueling may still not be enough to satisfy your power goals. The solution that the 2.0l guys have come up with is a hybrid port injection system (5th, 6th port injectors or full direct port injection system) This has a couple benefits one it allows you to have a higher fueling ceiling and two it helps clean the valves and prevent carbon build up. I see a lot of people looking at the rods saying this is a big problem and it may be however on the 2.0l EB (very very similar) the rods looked just as small and have been shown to hold very good power. What ended up failing (on cars not running a supplemental fueling system) was the piston ring lands. They just could not take the heat and over time they eventually chipped off. This problem was solved (for the most part) by supplemental fueling systems such as WMI or port fuel injection! This also eliminated the fuel lean spot we would get around 4500 RPM causing cylinders 2 and 4 to knock and heat up! There is a growing number of stock block/stock internal 2.0l EB over 400whp-450whp looking like they are happy!
Do I know you, lol? I pretty much said the same exact stuff to Greg last night during a conversation about the fueling issues, etc., on the 2.3 cars.

The port fueling kits are shaping up great so far and look like they'll be easily scalable to meet any kind of fueling needs.

Exactly. I've spoken with Alex and he said that his setup would be adapted to the EBM cars. He's making phenomenal progress with his kit and is getting ready to take pre-orders for the 2.0 guys soon. And like you said, having a 3rd party controller to run the auxiliary injectors will help keep stock idle and driveability while not under boost.

Yea Alex has been testing the pre production unit for some time now with great success and he is about to release pre production units soon so should have more data. A good WMI kit has been shown to give us about a 7% fueling bump and really does a great job cooling the cylinders. However before with the GTX2867R turbo most guys were making ~420whp at 29psi now with the fueling system Alex is making that at about 23-24psi with AFR in the mid 11's. Just maybe something to follow for you guys!

I'd like to think there is more headroom with the current HPFP and injectors through tuning

Alex will be getting inundated with emails now, and I'm gonna blame you! Haha. I hadn't been saying much because he's staying super busy with his testing and such on the 2.0 system and I figured he'd release details to the 2.3 guys in a bit.

Alex is running the system with a low IDC on the auxiliary injectors and keeping low-mid 11 AFRs. That's pretty good and there should be as much headroom as you'd need.

Its a beast for sure. It'll be fun to see what it can do once everything is dialed in.
Putting out nice numbers for a mustang dyno. Looks like I'll be saving up for a turbo upgrade as 1 of 1st upgrades
