I am going to create an entirely seperate thread based on my recent experience where I was fortunate enough to literally inspect inch by inch 3 gt350s (track and two tech). But one thing I wanted to keep seperate from that thread because I think this one deserves its own thread.

The stripes....

I'll just say it, they look pretty horrible up close. They are literally a sticker and the paint on them is not the same material (obviousl) as the paint on the car. Of the 3 cars I saw, two of them already had theirs peeling off from different areas. It looks really cheesy and ruins the car.

If you like elegant look and classy aggressive stance, dont do stripes.

Obviously to each his own. I'm sure as much as there are people who like gold colored wheels, I am sure some people like stripes. But I wanted to warn people that the pictures are misleading. You need to see one upclose.

I was actually shocked because from the pictures on the internet or from a distance (because I did see this before but not so close and didnt spend much time with the car last time) they look nice. I wouldnt do stripes now which really complicates things because almost every single car I found had them. That means I now need a new allocation to build my own:(
I don't have stripes, but I have noticed quite a few complaints on here about scratches and other defects in the stripes. There have also been a number of posts about the fact that the stripes are vinyl. I think it's good to have some threads on the topic, so people ordering a GT350 without seeing one first are not surprised. I'm not sure why the small defects in the stripes are so shocking to you - seems like an overly negative comment to me, but we all have different ways of expressing ourselves.

I'm always surprised at how some people have to look at their car from inches away trying to find visual imperfections and then are horrified when they find them. Every manufactured part or assembly has something. I think people have given you good advice - you can remove them or leave them for a while and possibly change your mind. You could have your own design painted on the car. Lots of options.

From my experience the non-R glossy stripes are not that great. Mine have scratches and swirls except for where my clear bra was installed.

However, the R matte black stripes look outstanding in person!!

McCarsFan - nothing you've written here has been anything other than rational and reasonable. That's why you get flack, because you see two sides to an issue. This is not allowed in Ah'Merica and you will be attacked by the pitchfork crowd. Carry on.
I agree:)

You make it sound simple but I highly doubt that stripe will just come off without leaving any marks or residue? Cleaning that stuff wont micro scratch the car?

Dude I am OCD about cars regardless of what brand what cost. Even if it were a civic with 120k miles.
Yes they will, plenty of GT500 owners have done it with zero issue and I'm sure its already been done with the GT350. If they can wrap an entire car and then remove it, a few strips is a piece of cake

Its litterally a giant sticker, heat it up with a hair dryer to get the adhersive goey, remove stripes, remove any residue with goo-gone, then hit it with some polish

If you arent confident in your abilities to carry those tasks out, a detail shop will graciously do it for a small fee:cheers:

Sorry Man...if you're being real its one thing, but if you're actually trying to upset people, that's another.

If you wanted stripes and want to keep the gloss ones clean, just wrap the car. (more money) but if you've read other threads, it seems the paint chips easily too so you'll probably want to do it anyway.
I've owned my GT500 with matte black stripes since july 2013 and the matte stripes have zero scratches. They look brand new still. I have also seen brand new GT350's with gloss stripes on the showroom floor with scratches all over them.

I have a black R with black stripes, but I want to put on a full Xpel clear wrap.. So I'll probably take my stripes off, then do something custom later.

They're $500. I had an opportunity to get an R and I would've bought it even with pink stripes.

Standing on its own - I agree...but there's history here that you haven't been lucky enough to enjoy...even including this little tidbit, which I suspected was a lie at the time...

I am not going to say a word about 350 or R that will be negative until the day I own one. I promise.

Not trying to be an a$$ here, but what the heck is the point of this thread?
While I agree with OP's claim, this thread is analogous to dating a model and then posting a thread titled Feedback On Models, saying:

"So I've been talking with Kate Upton, and after spending a some hours with her I noticed sometimes the way she applies her eyeliner makes her look cheesy and ruins her model status for me."

Yeah, maybe he has a point, but maybe if he actually got in it and did some flogging he'd get the point of the whole experience. This is a car that represents Ford/Shelby heritage, extreme value and some would say one of the last dying breaths of the driver's car. Go get a 911 GT3 if you want to obsess over some minuscule detail like paint on headlight washer nipples.

Speaking of nipples, this is why this thread is comparable to talking to Kate Upton and pedantically criticizing something about her. Take her home, flog her and enjoy the multitude of aspects of the experience you get from such a relationship. Spending time on this kind of trivial analysis is just missing the whole point of this amazing car.

I'm new so I should not be ranting.
