Take your tape measure and your grease pen when u pick it up so u can point out all the defects that need fixing . I am sure the dealer will be happy to correct them . Also don't forget you will likely need to pay a detail shop to do paint correction. Or maybe just lower your expectations a bit, it's a mustang FFS

The stripes are vinyl. Just have the dealer's body shop remove them if you don't like them. I would imagine they would do this for nothing. My wife did that when we purchased her 2010 Raptor a few years ago. We were not charged for that but we've purchased multiple vehicles there and have a good relationship with them. They are a good hometown dealership.

Honestly I can't imagine anyone buying a car off of a lot at around 60k and really getting very worked up over the 500 dollar stripe quality. If they are not quality enough- find something aftermarket or have a good body shop paint them on.

You are getting negativity from your negative comments when you made the OP about quality control issues and in your other OP in which you make unfavorable comparisons to the panel placement of these cars and your BMW products.

I am not getting worker up, I just posted this here because as I said I am sure there are others like me who were going with pictures on the internet where stripes dont look that bad. I thought they were paint! So you can imagine my amazement when I saw they were vinyl stickers. Case closed, lets move on.

I compared the panel gap to BMW because all I owned in my life was BMW. I have a friend who owns a 30k accord which we just both looked at in a parking garage and that car does not have any of the issues mustang does. So maybe its not the price of the car thats the problem? 30k is a year salary for many people, these panel gaps are not hard to adjust why must they be out of alignment from the factory? This argument of having low expectations from a Ford is wrong I think.

I am not complaining about the quality of leather here or the alcantra or the shift knob. Panel alignment shows lack of quality control. Any car at any price point should be put together properly. This is just basics.

Good points, I agree.

I am doing both. Now that stripes is a no go and 90% of the cars I see have them, I may have no choice but to order one.

I really want to see the new ruby red, I am going back and forth between that and light blue. Ruby red shows the curves of the car much better and contrasts with black roof/spoiler/wheels/splitter. Light blue as a color is more aggressive but doesnt contrast well.

Don't be so difficult. The stripes are just stickers, if you find one in the color/config you like, just remove the stripes and be done with it. Heck leave em on for a few weeks and see if they grow on you, if not get a hair dryer and go to town. It's not rocket science

Wonder what it would cost to have a stripe painted on the car. Maybe the black R stripe with the red pin stripe, Anyone know

Clearly you'd make a terrible BMW driver. You're not over complicating the issue. How dare you! ;)

You make it sound simple but I highly doubt that stripe will just come off without leaving any marks or residue? Cleaning that stuff wont micro scratch the car?

Dude I am OCD about cars regardless of what brand what cost. Even if it were a civic with 120k miles.

McCarsFan - nothing you've written here has been anything other than rational and reasonable. That's why you get flack, because you see two sides to an issue. This is not allowed in Ah'Merica and you will be attacked by the pitchfork crowd. Carry on.

Your comments didn't bother me at all. They simply state your observations and opinions.

If you did not have the body shop do it, I would suggest a heat gun and some WD-40- then a wash and wax.

I've had to remove some from one of my cars. It just takes a bit of patience.

i'd remove the stripes before any paint correction. The longer the stripes are on the car, the more noticeable it will be once they are removed.

I am a fan of no stripes. The cars draw enough attention withouthaving to try harder. :)

I find my stripes to be evenly applied and they do not have any corners lifting. I find them to be high-quality and do not have any issues that you mentioned. The gloss on the finish matches the paint well.

I know you are not on the fence. But if anyone is, I actually recommend to add the stripes from the factory, because they are only $475. If you try to add the OEM stripes after delivery, get out your checkbook - about $4500 just for materials. I also doubt that you will find good aftermarket vinyl kits installed for less than $475. I like the narrower OEM stripes compared to the aftermarket wide ones. YMMV

The stripes will be very easy to remove without damaging the paint. If you have a detailer doing paint correction, I'm sure they would remove the stripes for you at little cost.
