I typically ask the dealership not to prep/detail my new vehicle but in the midst of finalizing all the paperwork and needing to be somewhere it slipped my mind. Therefore, I've noticed some light surface scratches on the paint which can easily buffed out by a great detail guy that I know but I'm not sure about the stripes. Also, the cover that comes with the car is made of a scratchy material that can easily cause surface scratches if not careful - ie. if trying to put it on alone.

Get yourself some Meguiar's 205, foam or microfiber applicator and a couple microfiber towels. 205 took all of the swirls out of my stripes, light scratches around the door pulls and various plastic pieces around the car.

I had a few scratches on the front section stripe, this is what I used, here's the results.
Also I applied and wiped it in a straight line, with stripes.

Did you use a microfibre towel or something else?

I used a Micro fibre towel, put the liquid on the towel.
Gently applied, same direction as the stripes.
Then flipped cloth over to dry side and wiped until
completely dry. Took about 2-3 minutes.
I would say 98% gone. bright enough light at correct angle, can still see
a little, but really had to look for it.

I am leaning towards stripe. How is the maintenance on it? Do you have to be extra careful around it, or you just wash it properly like you would do with your paint?

When I washed it, I made a point of cleaning stripes in the same direction they go. When I detailed it, I did the same. I am going to have a coating put on the car, so after that should be no issues. They look like they mark easy.
