I am on my 14th Mustang and have been using Mobi1 full synthetic for the past 35 years starting with my 85 1/2 SVO. I have never had any engine problems in any of them. I am intrigued by what others have mentioned that have outperformed Mobil 1. However, its hard to teach an old dog new tricks.

Pennzoil Ultra 5w30 or Mobile 1 , I just can't convince myself that dropping $100+ on Royal purple or Amsoil would make much difference.

I've used Mobil 1 0w40 Euro in my cars for the past 6+ years... My '06 GTO LS2 and now my '18 GT 5.0 have been happy!

Theres a strong chance that Rotella t6 and Pennzoil platinum euro 5w40 use the same or very similar base oil and viscosity modifiers, both of which are excellent. Mobil1 FS 0w40 I believe uses a group IV base oil that is excellent as well, albeit a lower viscosity. Both the M1FS and PPE use more zddp than nearly all SN oils due to an exception written into the SN spec that allows more zddp in the heavier grades. However, current CK4 T6 has even more zddp than the aforementioned a3/b4 oils. We’re talking about 800 ppm phosphorus max for most current SN oils, while the PPE has about 900, I think the M1FS is about 1000, and the T6 is also about 1000. The older CJ4 T6 was more like 11-1200.

Rotella T6 no longer carries the API S rating so, FWIW, Shell doesn’t officially endorse using it in gas car engines. Something else to consider is that there’s a myriad of versions of zddp, boron, moly, and magnesium compounds that can be used for wear prevention. The types of each and combinations affect the way they act in the engine. It is POSSIBLE that the T6 uses a combination that works great in Diesel engines but isn’t necessarily optimized for gas car engines. I use Rotella T6 in my wet clutch applications and Pennzoil platinum euro a3/b4 in my supercharged mustang. I have a sizable stash of the CJ4 T6 that I grabbed while it was still available.
