For folks who mothball their vehicles or barely use them, an extended warranty is pointless, as that type of owner may not ever use or kill the warranty with accrued miles
I would disagree. A 36K mile bumper to bumper warranty for the max term (8 or 9 years) is very cheap, to the tune of about $1,000. So if you are not using the car, it will still have a bumper to bumper for a long period of time.

Am I correct in this statement....My 3/36 expires this month (Nov), but I still have a factory 5/60 on the powertrain?

I literally just got off the phone with Ford Protect. $3,490 for 5 years from now, OR 48,000 on the odometer.

And it was asked earlier in this thread but didn't get answered...which Plan? Premium, Extra, Basic, or Powertrain?

But seems like I'm gathering do not call Ford Protect direct? Call one of these dealers?

your bumper to bumper ends at 36mos. yes powertrain continues.

go with anderson-koch. best i've found. i'll probably go with the premium as i've debated back and forth mostly concerned with A/C and engine. i figure it's only a bit more for covering almost everything and would be more appealing IF i ever sold the car...which i dont plan to do.

I purchased the Ford ExtraCARE, 96mo, 48,000mi with $0 deductible from Flood Ford, $1,700. This plan works for me as my car is not a daily driver and will be off the road in the New England winters.

My thoughts and reasoning exactly as well. I found it super easy to obtain the Ford Premium ESP on-line from Anderson-Koch at a reasonable cost, especially compared to what my local Ford dealer wanted for equivalent coverage. I like having the peace of mind the most comprehensive coverage brings for the projected time and/or mileage I'll have the car, with transferability of coverage possible if sold instead.

Flood ford is generally 1/2 the cost of what your local stealership sells the same thing for.

Why are all these prices soo cheap compared to calling Ford Protect directly? Is it an entirely different warranty or company?

just huge markup no other reason. also flood and Anderson specialize in these online deals and assume they get a lot of business so they can discount.

As expected, the dealership is dragging their feet. Called them up last week, guy pretended that he didn't know the car I bought had CF wheels, otherwise he would not have recommended that insurance. Dude, I have a copy of your scribbles outlining how expensive the wheels are on this car...and that's exactly why I should get the insurance.

Also, I looked up what the equivalent GAP insurance would cost on my current Progressive insurance....a whopping $12 every 6 months!! Wow.

Finance guy promised he would send me an email with a doc to sign to cancel stuff, still waiting for it. Have a feeling I'm going to have to go there in person. Sigh.
