I know there are lots of folks with 10R80 cars running ESS superchargers running 9’s in the 1/4 mile, but are there any MT82-D4 cars putting up similar numbers?

I am fighting like heck to resist the urge to add one of these to my Bullitt. For those, who have experience with this kit, what component upgrades would be needed to prevent running on the ragged edge?

I should also add that my car currently has nitrous (150 shot, tuned for E85), a DW400 pump with an inline Deatschwerks check valve, new 3/8 fuel line from the pump to the rails and a JMS BAP.

Here’s where things are going to sound a little bit out of the norm for how SC cars are set up. I would like to keep the nitrous on the car and pair it with the ESS to ensure I’m able to run 9’s effortlessly. Having said that, I wouldn’t be opposed to stepping down from the 150 shot to something a little safer. What say the ESS experts here?

Have you made any passes with the Hoosier bias-plys? I would get that suspension sorted prior to adding more power. I know you've had some struggles with 60' times.

I do know there is a guy with a 18+ stick shift ESS car running 9s at some NMRA events. I believe he runs the 10.10 Street Bandit class as well as True Street. He has a youtube channel, although not sure how much info is out there: https://www.youtube.com/@coyotefury

I haven’t run any good numbers with the car yet. There have been many problems popping up along the way to getting the car dialed in, from suspension settings, fueling issues, blown cats and dialing in my Hitmaster clutch hit control system. Car went 11.90 @ 117 with blown cats on the 150 shot. Best mph to date has been 122.85 spraying in 2nd-4th (making the 4th gear shift about 100’ or so before the 1/4 mile stripe).

I‘ve made some recent changes to the rear suspension and will be testing them out soon. Once I get the sixty-foot issue sorted out, I‘m certain the et is gonna drop considerably.

I completely agree. The bottle is full (has been for a while), but I have no desire to use nitrous again until I work out the 60’ issue. I believe a lot of it is in the Hitmaster (clutch slipper system). I recently found a guy running one on an old ‘63 Studabaker on his YT channel and was able to glean some info. from his video. I will be trying some of what I picked up from that video on my next outing.

Note: This clutch setup has been a handful and all trial and error, as not too many people are running it, therefore, I’ve essentially been on my own trying to figure it out.

I did make a couple of NA passes on the Hoosiers about 2 months ago, but the sixty was still an issue. Here are those time slips.

1.8 on 60ft, isn't hateful. You're being hard on yourself, but I get it.

Stick cars really need to use a WOT box 2-step. Otherwise launch rpm and how you're modulating the throttle is just another variable that is constantly changing. It's really hard to be consistent on the launch without one.

Based on the other cars out there you're going to want about 140-145mph trap speed for 9's with a stick...what HP level are we talking?

I would say I’m a ways off from that. I make 639 rwhp and 602 rwtq on the 150 shot.

I’m gonna guess that somewhere around 875-900 hp would be needed with a stick, yes/no?

I think a stick car will need around 875+

I just put my 100mm pulley on my G3 today, should be enough to put me in the high 800s… going to run 60-130 later tonight and hoping to get in the 5s.. hoping for at least 5.9.. which should be enough theoretically to trap 140. My previous best on the 100mm and normal summer tires and spinning pretty good was 6.7.

I agree with this. I do have a WOT Box on the car too.

An auto car(6R80) at 830 wheel and a little bit of weight reduction, I know personally, was running 9.1's at 148. I don't think it should take 875 wheel with an MT82 to hit 9.9's's but maybe I am wrong.

Totally just a guess by me, I never go to the track anymore, lol. But that’s good news then.

I have a 10R80 car. I'm not sure how it compares. I'm at 775WHP and ran a 5.29 60-130 in 1100 DA. E-85 13psi Boost. I would think with that 100mm pulley you will be in the 5s.
