The VaV1 app is outstanding and cures 90+% of the false alerts. It is only available for Android devices but what a lot of guys do is just buy a really cheap Android phone, not activate it and use it just in conjunction with the V1. All it requires is the bluetooth module from Valentine. Two of the many great features on YaV1 are the fact that you can tell it to automatically ignore an alert if you know it is false, such as a roadside speed indicator. You can also set it not to alert below a set speed such as 25 mph. That way it doesn't sound in parking lots. I also had stuck my V1 in a drawyer for a year until I decided to have it upgraded and get YaV1. Well worth it.

i will never buy a radar detector without gps. i currently run a max 360 and a max 1. i have run a valentine v1.

if you live in a densely populated area, i would recommend a gps enabled radar detector. if you live in a less populated area i would run a a v1 or redline. for me to have control over the v1 i had to have a savvy connected to by and a bluetooth dongle.

it was a mess.

if long range is most important then i would get a redline or v1 and live with the false alerts. if you live in populated area i would get a gps enabled detector.

i don't know why valentine doesn't offer a detector with blue tooth and gps on the main board. it would be the best of all worlds.

I've been running a V1 since about 2010 - saved me many times. I found that vehicle blind spot radar and adaptive cruise control radar was setting off K band, so I turned that sensor off. Now it only picks up laser and Ka band. Has never given a false positive, does not go off for shopping centers or other vehicles or anything like that. I made that adjustment last year (after getting a car with blind spot monitoring). Until that point (5 years of ownership), I had never had a police or highway patrol system set off anything but Ka or laser, so those are the only two I care about. It doesn't make a peep unless there's an actual threat!
